Elite Engineering Catch Cans are top shelf! We have them on every one of our cars and we include them in ALL of our performance packages. It should also be noted that we make almost NOTHING on these cans at the prices we offer them for. So, you tell me, would we push these cans if we didn't believe in them?
Cleaner engines work better, PERIOD! All the best, Jared Royce 888.308.6007 |

i've done some reading and from my new understanding the catch can is very important for tuned cars that have less of a safe zone for detonation. at higher RPMs with a leaner than stock air fuel ratio the oil mist will decrease the octane of the gas once in the combustion camber. all of this could lead to a broken ring land on the top of the piston or worse case you get predetonation when your piston is in the middle of a stroke and sheer the connecting rod and destroy the block .
from a performance stand point catch can is a necessity |

It literally makes no difference on engine life or anything. People just get one because they think it makes a difference and use psychology to make you think you need one...

Yes a real one that vents to the atmosphere (pollutes) so there is no chance of any vapor entering your engine, like a real race car will have. Otherwise you can play around and catch some of it with the modern style over engineered bling, but be assured they still pass some oil through. Another trick is to plumb the crankcase breather outlet into the exhaust and burn it, which can create a draw to actually pull the vapors out of the crankcase, this have shown to be highly effective in large displacement engines in high rev situations.

I have a RX catch can and get about what Jester got every 3000 miles. I don't want that returning into my intake to get burned away and leave additional carbon on the inside.
Will I get more life out of the engine I don't know but I like having the can. |

The comparisons with older engines (Silverados with 250,000+ miles, ect) is not valid. Direct injection has changed the ball game. No longer is there gasoline and air flowing thru the intake ports and valves, just air with direct injection. So there is no longer any gasoline "wash" thru the ports and the back side of the intake valves.
And there are many variables as to why some "see" oil collected in the catch cans and why some others see very little or none. How you break in your engine has a lot to do with this, the ring seal, the effective blow down from the cylinders into the crankcase. And how you drive your vehicle, percentage at WOT or high RPM overall. Your oil consumption, or crankcase "loss" between oil changes is a pretty good indicator of ring seal/valve guide wear, and blow by. I recently installed an Elite catch can on my 2012 V6 Camaro with approx 45,000 miles. For $150 and 20 minutes of my time, its cheap insurance against oil buildup and coking on the backside of the intake valves and ports. I doubt I will see much oil collected as my engine was broken in GM recommendations, and consumes very little oil between oil changes. I should have installed the can sooner really. But better later than never. |

Some brands of CCs are better than others. What type do you have? RX put theirs in line after other CCs and picked up oil/ Just saying. But a good CC is a must. Or your engine and setup is perfect?
