They would if they could. Chevrolet gives the dealers allocations. The dealer doesn't have a say on how many they get.

I sure hope that since My Cars TPW is 9-7-09 and Delivery scheduled first week of October that when it gets in the Dealer trys to hike our aggreed Price when ordered because the demand will increase for SS models now...?

I told them they better not adjust the Price along the way... I have heard of dealers doing this... Selling at MSRP and then once its in asking for an additional 5k - 8k for the car...

I just hope I get my car for the Price I agreed too when I was told it would be in...

I would get it in writing from the get go. Legally binding and what not.

The suppliers can not keep up with the demand.

Fbodfather mentioned that it will be tough on the suppliers to keep up with more then a 50% production back before production even started and this constraint shows that. Personally I'm surprised that this constraint didn't happen earlier, GM must have had a lot of supplies stocked up for the SS.

Yeah the V-6 should have more availability. If you wanted an SS then it would take longer to get your order filled.

so it won't slow down the production of the V6? will it effect it at all really?

Nope won't slow down at all. It should actually get more LT's and LS's out faster.

From what I have seen the demand is higher for SS so that may free up some allocations for the V-6's.

I could not bear to read thru this thread (...without my head exploding...)

OK --

SS model - -that's where we make money --

So WHY would we purposely decide not to build SSs?????

Makes no sense.

At issue: component sourcing. We have worked one supplier (overseas) (the supplier happens to be a 'brand' name....) -- at maximum overtime. There are laws in the country where this supplier is located. The government of that country allowed the supplier to work around laws temporarily -- but now we must follow the law. (...sorry - can't be more specific....)

Believe me: we want to build as many sold orders as possible
(within the law.....)

(...as we need to make money)

(...so that I can retire!!)

(just kidding about that last part...)

Now: You say: "Why not just get another supplier?"

Go back and read the "brand name" part..........

Thats too bad. Would be nice to know which country full of dirty commies is keeping Camaros out of the hands of red blooded Americans. Might be worth an invasion if you ask me

ETA

Thinking about it for a minute longer, its gotta be brakes. I'm pretty sure all of Brembo's plants are places with crazy labor laws (Italy, Poland and Brazil come to mind). Wouldn't surprise me if one or all of those three had severe OT limits...
