Doesn't really make since why they have core charges... They are a junkyard, not a remanufacturer???
The diff I'm looking at on the website is also in one of the texas yards.

SS hub bearings. I was originally going to go with 1LE axles and hubs but after reading through a LOT of threads I think the regular SS axles might actually be better for drag racing. I just seem to read alot of threads about 1LEs breaking axles or having the boots slinging grease. I've also heard that GM made the 1LE axles a little too stiff and that's why they are breaking.
Rick seemed to have good luck with his stock SS rear, lasted for over 300 nitrous passes with hard launches and many more NA passes. Pro Stock John also raced for 3 years on his stock SS rear diff and axles before braking the spiders. Plus it's about $50 cheaper than the 1LE axles and hubs of going with new parts.

One thing I thought was strange was the 1LE hub bearings were IDENTICAL to the standard SS hub bearings. I had orders the ones for the 1LE first and then decided to order the SS ones and send the others back. It gave me a chance to look at them side by side. I guess I just assumed the 1LE hub bearing assemblies would have been beefier or wider but nope they are exactly the same on the outside. Must just have bigger ball bearings inside or something.
Here's a pic of them both, 1LE on the left and SS on the right.

Also I finally took the plunge and ordered a '14 SS hood vent. I think they look cool and hopefully will keep underhood temps down a little and help with high speed front end lift. My car has always felt a little floaty at 120+ mph.
Now just need to build up the courage to cut a giant hole in my hood...

No this is just a bone stock SS auto diff. I think the ZL1 diffs have the coolers.

I ordered all my BMR rear suspension parts on Nov. 25th the day before Thanksgiving. I got everything pretty quick except the rear poly subframe bushings. When I called they said they were on backorder and should ship out in a couple days, which is a little irritaing because I ordered over the phone and was never told anything about not having all of it. Well a week later I call back and then was told looks like at least another week before they will ship. So called back today to cancel the poly cradle bushings and give them a chance to give me a smoking deal on the solid delrin bushings. Best they would do was the same black Friday 15% off deal which was still $480. So I just canceled them and going a different route on the cradle bushings.

Ordered some aluminum solid subframe bushings from Pegasus Technology Inc. (2012LS3VERT). They have a hell of a deal going on right now for the holidays. $399 for the complete set AND free shipping. They look a lot cooler than the BMR delrin bushings too. These guys there were really nice and helpful. They had them in stock and are shipping them out today.
I really wanted solid subframe mounts to begin with but just couldn't justify the cost. So glad I came across this deal.

I like the hex vents too. But I like that this is a factory gm piece. I just hope I can cut the hole nice and clean. I'm a mechanic not a body guy lol.

It looks like your more a 1/4 mile than road course person anyway. Would just amount to extra weight more than benefit you I would think. One of my winter projects sitting around is the 3:45 rear swap, was thinking on the cooler maybe? Really want to see how your hood turns out.

And yeah I dread cutting the hole in the hood but I'm exited about having the vent installed. I'll just be leaving it open with no rain trays or anything, I like how you can just see right in. Maybe some red LED lights under the hood somewhere would be cool. I'll have to play around with it and see.

I feel like the GM hood vent really put the hurt on Hex Vents sales. The 14-15 scoop is dirt cheap and looks good!

I agree, I think they look awesome. As long as they sit flush to the hood all the way around. I think it will be fine as long as I put it in the same place as the 14's up closer to the front of the hood. It seems to be the ones that try to put it more towards the back of the hood that have fitment issues.
