Uh... LS7. It's not a flat plane but it works. LS7 still works.

Also, look at how many used are sale with very few miles. It's simply too hard core for most.

Know what? Good for us owners because it's unlikely they'll ever build anything this hard core again.

Also, some will point to the GT350's success (it will most likely sell more than 1750 total) as an example of a hard core car that sells. However, magna ride is plush compared to the DSSV setup (i know from having owned a ZL1) and its interior is far more to the liking of the masses (not me, though). Even the GT350 R will not be as hard core (again, due to magna ride and interior)
You hit the nail on the head. The masses have become way too accustomed to having all of the bells and wistles. If it doesnt have gadgets, then they turn their nose in disgust. The Z/28 is as close as youll get to a stripped down car with the biggest engine thatll fit.
I bought my car knowing it didnt have A/C, my wife questioned my sanity, but for me it is as pure of a sports car (that I like/can afford), while drawing on the muscle car heritage so many say they like but would never own.
The ride is harsh, its noisy/cluncky, the exhaust is loud, sucks to park, have to know your route before going anywhere, tough to get in and out of, but you know what, I love all of that, thats what gives this car character, it puts aside all of the nit noid bitch ninny stuff and is in your face performance with the 427, CCBs, Trofeos, aero and doesnt ask for your forgivness.
I will be keeping this car for the rest of my adult life.

LS7 is no longer in production other than crate engines. They don't have an LTx version.

You said it.."many like, but would never own". With all the attention the car draws it's clear that a lot of folks are intrigued. Most, however, can't live without all the amenities (heated seats, nav, rear camera, cushy ride, etc.). Like you, I feel that's what makes it so great. No frills, no compromises, raw as hell and so damn fun whether just cruising or pushing it hard. I too will be keeping it till the end of my days. I traded my Boss 302 LS for a ZL1 because I wanted more power. I soon regretted it and yearned for something more raw and visceral. I am lucky to have wound up with something better... won't make that mistake again.

What is sad is the GT350R will probably win any matchup because of the suberp Voodoo engine. Even with the 650hp version, it will probably blow up on the track like the Z06 did in the best drivers car matchup. Badass though.

There's something that this car has...

and this car has...

and this car has...

...that the rendering of the "new" Z/28 lacks. Personally, I think's it a badass look that only and factory built, purpose built track car can achieve. Which is why that rendering looks more like a ZL1.

The Gen 5 ZL1 looks way better than that yellow thing. That's just ugly.

I think the Gen 5 is hands down a better lookin car... I might be biased but I think our gen 5's are the epitome of American muscle. The GEN six at first glance could be a Mustang or a bunch of other stamped out cars. There are some things I like about the looks of the Gen 6, but overall I like our big, in your face, AMERICAN MUSCLE!!!

Agreed. I had to stop by my dealership the other day and had a chance to finally see one (white SS) in person. Not impressed at all..very bland aesthetically. Couldn't put my finger on it exactly, but it just doesn't have the "it" factor.

Looks more like a Gen 6 ZL1 rendering, which follows the pattern of the front fascia/splitter look.

Agree 100% its a true 'concept car' design that became a reality and it screams muscle car!

I think GM tried to integrate C7 elements to it, which is a good idea at 1st, but it turned out far as good as the C7. Should have stayed closer to the 5th gen with less C7 into it.

The 'ZL1' and 1LE package will be a big step up from the SS I think though. I look at the Z28/1LE/ZL1 and they look a lot better than the stock SS.
