Here's the rub.....if we are stupid enough to continue to pay the prices we do for a "name"...they will continue to charge these outrageous prices. Shop around...that "free" market works both ways. Plenty of quality budget headers out there.

Remember reuse the stock gaskets don't use the ones that come with the SE headers.

I bought my Stainless Power headers, mid-pipes, and CAI intake for $845 shipped. The quality of the headers are perfect. You'd be out of your mind paying $1500 for headers.

I paid under $700 for TSP LT-headers, non-catted mid pipes, with O2 extensions... my full Stainless Works 3" exhaust plus x-pipe cost like $800ish, if i remember correctly. |

I have heard this before.why is that?.they offer GM multi layer gaskets and new bolts for $35. And are the factory bolts good to use for headers..I had considered buying locking bolts..as I don't wanna have to get back in there to retighten aft the install

I used to get headers for $100.. LOL but hey they were paint them right away with black exhaust paint and wait for the paper gaskets to get brittle and blow out and the rear paper gasket at the collector to crack and get exhaust leaks...and yes rust happens.....
Now yes I paid $712 years ago for stainless power with the HFC's form Maryland speed with free shipping but hey its stainless made with a merge spike and made from American parts just assembled, ( welded and bent), overseas where its cheaper labor. If you go too cheap you get what you pay for, I am very happy with the appearance and function of my headers, if they were painted steel..... Not so much, and over the years... painted steel becomes painted garbage on a daily driver and that's why $100 headers for a SBC often got coated or wrapped or etc.... Stock gaskets are metal and could almost be reusable ..... but do crush some, headers are torqued on mildly and good luck. Stainless power BTW is made by stainless works for about 1/2 the price of the American made guaranteed for life headers. And yes there are different grades of steel in some parts and different qualities of stainless made in various companies headers.

So I guess that supporting American Labor and materials makes one an idiot these days. I mean why pay an American worker a decent wage, where maybe, just maybe he can retire, or possibly send a kid through College. When you can just weld em up with near slave labor overseas.
I would rather spend a few extra to put some food on the table of an American worker any day of the week. |
