i think that dealers have too many ss on the lots and everybody is ordering there ss's the way they want them instead of buing them off the lots so its a scare tatic to get everybody to buy the cars off the lots instead of waiting even longer

Just in time manufacturing meets greater than expected demand.

Anyone know/hear any rumors as to when 2011 will be available for ordering? Limitation on SS sounds ominous for Z28... I drive a 98 Corvette right now and am quite anxious to add an SS or even better the Z28 to the garage.

Yes...most definitely. I owned and just sold a 1991 Mustang 5.0 LX notchback and it was no slouch. My new Camaro (not even broken in yet) is a freakin' BEAST make no mistake!!

Let me clarify something.....

The workers for this 'name brand' must by law be given so much time off......

SS will be a bit lower for a while -- but it'll kick back up in a few weeks.....

Makes sense, considering if the certain 'Name Brand' part is being made in a certain country. All I can say is that I wish I had their work laws..

Not to mention if I'm reading you correctly that Name brand part cannot be made by another supplier without certain things happening, and is also integral to the operation of the SS.

Oops, did I give too much away to those still in the dark?

Meanwhile, somewhere in America 3500 hard working, intelligent, and dedicated employees were laid off and would be willing to do whatever it is this overseas company does - AND put the overtime in to meet demand.

Sorry. Sometimes I think that way when I think how GM was saved by the American tax payer and they source more parts from overseas companies that could just as well be built here for the same cost or less. Especially when said company exists in a country with laws governing overtime. How is that productive?

OK --

SS model - -that's where we make money --

So WHY would we purposely decide not to build SSs?????

Makes no sense.

At issue: component sourcing. We have worked one supplier (overseas) (the supplier happens to be a 'brand' name....) -- at maximum overtime. There are laws in the country where this supplier is located. The government of that country allowed the supplier to work around laws temporarily -- but now we must follow the law. (...sorry - can't be more specific....)

Believe me: we want to build as many sold orders as possible
(within the law.....)

(...as we need to make money)

(...so that I can retire!!)

(just kidding about that last part...)

Now: You say: "Why not just get another supplier?"

Go back and read the "brand name" part..........

My guess is the supplier is Brembo, that is a name that is well known and I doubt they would outsource production to meet demand.

Nope. You cannot ever retire fbodofather. You must stay with GM and ensure that the Camaro continues to live on for generations to come. Besides...what are gonna do if retired? Sit around and watch The Weather Channel all day? Bleh!

Completely off topic but ... 2011's will probably start production in a little less than a year, ordering should start at about the same time. This constraint has absolutely nothing at all what-so-ever to possibly be related to the Z28, which while I don't know 100% about its current status, I can say for sure that it won't be available as a 2011.

This is the new global economy.

I am guessing as well the supplier in question here is Brembo. If you check out their website you'll see that they have facilities all over the world including one in michigan that manufactures brake rotors for the aftermarket.

Thanks for updating this. Your knowledge speakes volumes and helps soften all the "speculation" being brought up here. I work as a contractor in supplier relations at another auto company and with all the turmoil this year, these supplier companies really don't know what to expect next! First all the plants are down during bankruptcy. Next comes cash-for-clunkers and now the auto brass want to build as many as possible to satisfy demand. You just can't increase the supplies of parts overnight people.
