Seems to put the power down pretty well off the line....and my butt-dyno agrees. ![]() Don't forget the PTM system (best in the Industry), and the ELSD. Together with very short gear spacing, the LT4 can generate higher power levels (at lower torque in the upper rpm range) for a longer period of time, while the electronics put it to the ground at any point in the corner. |

As for powerband, we haven't seen the gear ratios or axle ratio yet.
It's possible we have a 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th overdrives. Who knows. But be sure GM isn't going to put a transmission in this car that doesn't work well. I'm convinced of that.

I've never been a fan of Camaro's tap shift. In fact it's garbage in the 5th Gen, but that 10 speed is awesome. Still a little much turning the wheel and having to tap on a road track, but I think I could get used to it.

It used to be that all the race-y Euro cars that had it used column-mounted shift paddles...but the more TopGear I watch...the more cars seem to be using wheel-mounted paddles. They're just...bigger.

We purchased a Jeep for my wife with a 9 speed auto trans. It is the most annoying car I ever drove. Go down a street at 35mph, the trans shifts up and down so many times I have to put the shift in manual mode to stop it. There is a big uproar in the jeep community about it. New software upgrade just came out, just changed the annoying speed to 50mph.

That's a big spoiler/wing.....
And the tires don't look terribly aggressive...are those snows? Hmmmmm..... Despite the bigger rear wing, the front end looks just like the ZL1, without a more aggressive front splitter...and the now-familiar inverted trapezoidal gaping-maw grille...with all the aerodynamic work that went into the ZL1's face for cooling, it would make sense to re-use the results for a track-focused model. So....what do we think? Track kit for the ZL1? New N/A engine for the Z/28? Light-weighted ZL1? Light-weighted SS? Or a practical joke, like those stickers on the ZL1 prototypes?

What do I hope? High revving n/a small block around 530 hp, lighter weight, big brakes and aero. I hope this car takes what the previous Z/28 did, pushes the bar forward and does it cheaper. GM is doing performance better than any mainstream brand in the world right now. The only thing I feel they are missing is an n/a, track focused car that decimates the competition. This is what I hope from the Z/28.

Automatics are a big mystery to me....They seem to have been bullet-proof and worked well over the years for drag-racing....Road racing, not so much with American cars....too heavy....harder on brakes....etc....
Regardless of any of that, my question is why is this ten speed making it's debut in a Camaro?.....No year or two first in the Corvette?....or Cadillac first?....Is the Camaro the new guinea pig for the other lines?.... We've seen this trans at one track for a quick public relations, release story....I still would have my doubts it's a greatest thing for regular track duty as the first new automatic transmission seen in a Camaro.... |

To me the A10 has to small components for the power we are going to put down, for drag racing, will see how long it lives with 100 pass on it.

The A10 was co-developed with Ford and is going into the new Raptor, which if it means anything I've absolutely destroyed transmissions in my off road car where they would hold up perfectly fine in a street oriented race car running the same horsepower. Granted the new ZL1 does have considerably more horsepower than a Raptor, the Raptor is quite a bit heavier and off road use does place some pretty considerable shock loads on the drivetrain when traveling at high rates of speed. I wouldn't be too worried about it holding up.
