Higher number = "cooler" plug

Based on NGK's advice he should actually be using a 2 step colder plug...

"A good rule of thumb is, one Heat Range colder for every 75–100hp added."

If he is around 700, he has added about 200 from stock (assuming he has an M6).

Was that an 'I told you so'?

Wild card may have been a bad choice of words. I can't see how the same part can perform so different. My guess is those seeing 700+ on a stock pump are either running mods like meth to offset the lack of fuel or are on meth and waiting for disaster.

In the NGK brand. A lot of other brands are the opposite.

My good friends at RPM in Garner, NC did the same thing to my CTS-V. Lean tune led to a burned #7 piston and a cracked #8 cylinder. My good friends at RPM stated it was bad gas (93 octane from Shell) and that they would only charge me $6,000 to fix it. Good friends........

I definately had to use a BAP with 9.1 lower and ID850s. Fuel pressure was dropping under 30 psi at WOT.

I assume having fuel pressure drop this low would have the same effect that the OP is having, correct?

if fuel pressure was not enough, the wideband would have read lean, no?
a log with AFR, fuel pressure and injector duty cycle would be useful.

I spent an hour reviewing the tune and this is my short summary of what happened with the supporting data below.

First I think you were spinning the motor to high (RPM) however what caused it to fail (my personal belief) was the almost 10 PSI drop in fuel pressure coupled with 16-17 PSI of boost.

-------------------------------
Tune:

Rev limiter set to 6900 (don't know why it's being spun this high with stock cam)

Power Enrichment (commanded AF)

3500-5500RPM 1.345 PE Commanded = 10.92 A/F
5750 1.295 PE Commanded = 11.35 A/F
6000-6250 1.278 PE Commanded = 11.50
6500 1.295 PE Commanded = 11.35 A/F

Timing, standard table 20 degress at 4800, transition to 15 degrees 5600-8K rpm

PE/COT spark advance correction table set to add 4 degrees 4800 rpm and up

-------------------------------------------------
Scanner from dyno pull:

No KR, timing at WOT 20 @ 4800 down to 13 @ 6500

Boost 15PSI @ 5K RPM, 16PSI @6k RPM, 17 PSI @ 6400 RPM, 17.5 PSI @ 6600 RPM (220.5 kpa)

Fuel Pressure (During WOT dyno pull)

4500 RPM 65.3 .935MV (narrowband)
5000 RPM 64.8
5500 RPM 64.0 .899MV (narrowband)
5762 RPM 62.2
6000 RPM 60.5 .881MV (narrowband)
6257 RPM 59.6
6605 RPM 56.6 .856MV (narrowband)

The lowest fuel psi I see is 56... I thought anything over 50 was ok?

6900 rpm rev limiter is insane with a stock cam and springs. No reason to do that and the fuel pressure isn't horrible. What's the AFR from the WB on the dyno?

My wideband showed 11.5-11.7 AFR even with the low fuel pressure
