I think the LFX is a great engine but they really neutered it with the doggish throttle response and the terrible m6 that was designed solely to hit the 30mpg mark. Although the throttle issues can be helped with a vitesse(I don't have one), we are however stuck with the m6 unless you want to swap it out. The first time I drove it I had flashbacks to my fathers mid 80's s-10. It was clunky and high effort. Also the Reverse position causes issues. It's too easy to shift into R instead of 1 and vice versa. And sometimes downshifting into second lands me into the phantom gear below R. I've owned manual mazdas and Hondas and they were amazingly smooth and fun to drive. They transformed boring grocery getters into drivers cars. Thankfully the 6th gen will get a tremec instead of this aisyn truck tranny

Hopefully the vitessee will liven this thing up but I kinda need brakes rims tires atm

Well I just upgraded the suspension to the full 1le setup and added some BMR trailing arms/bushings and adjustable toe links and this thing is a complete blast to drive in the twisties. I couldn't find the limit and I was literally scaring the crap outta myself.

Shawno, that sounds like a SWEET setup. Congrats!

On the subject of scaring the crap out of ourselves...
Yesterday, I was cruising in the center lane of the interstate at about 75 MPH and a jerk in an Escalade blew by me on the right and cut across and almost took my front end off. I'm sure he saw a Camaro and had to show off. I hit the gas - not anywhere near full throttle - and got in the passing lane behind him - not too close. A few seconds later, he caught up to another car and hit his brakes, so i let off my throttle and after dropping what felt like 10 MPH, I glanced at my speedometer and I'm afraid to admit how fast I was going. Let's just say if there was a police cruiser around, I would have been toast!. :-)

Lol, I daily drive my camaro so I know where you're coming from.
I feel like those types of drivers would be assholes no matter what you're driving. Old crappy Japanese cars driven by young dumb kids are the worst, they don't care, their cars crap and their parents will get them a new one...

-

People underestimate the V6, they fail to realize it only needs e87 to reach full power, it gets the same MPG's as most sedans, it has 323 horses at the crank, it's well balanced and can smoke most around corners...on a camaro5 in general note I can see perfectly fine out of it...visibility is perfect.

best of all I got mine for 19k new...I got the LS for what it (used to) cost lightly used.

I don't mean to down talk the RS guys but for under 30k you could've gotten a low mileage used SS...and to my SS guys for under 45k you could've gotten a used low mileage ZL1....
I could've gotten an LT/RS used for the same price as my LS I just don't need bells and whistles. I can always add bigger tires and tune the top speed.

to each their own... we all drive what we drive for a reason.

I have zero regrets about my LS, it was carefully thought out and I intend to build it up. Getting it over 455 hp is all I want...nothing crazy.

Yeah, I'm not one of those guys who buys a V6 and wants it to hit 700 at the crank...I know it's possible though. Haha

Exactly. But my wife would kill me if I dropped 6 grand on a car part....

Spraying and praying with nos is seeming to be my best bet. Having power constantly through that SC would be awesome...but I'd definitely wear the living hell out of the LFX if I had it all the time.

Could always refill the bottle at a speed shop when I get the itch.

Either way I'm risking a serious engine issue, the question is will I pay $6000 or $600 + refills later.

Docker, that's a beautiful car! It's AMAZING you were able to buy that car for under $20K!!! Wow.

I thought I got a good deal, but you got me beat...haha. I bought mine in August 2015 and it was a leftover, new 2014. It had every option I wanted except for navigation and the active exhaust, and was marked down to $26K from almost $35K on the sticker. I hadn't seen a new one that cheap, so I pounced the first day the dealer advertised that price.

A used SS probably would have made more sense financially (bang for the buck and resale-wise), but I had not bought myself a new car in over 30 years and had my heart set on one. I just hit 8500 miles in 9 months with the car parked all winter, so it is my seasonal DD. I get attached to my cars and I simply LOVE this one. :-)

Glad to see so many people happy with their v6! I have always driven a v8 (mostly z28s or older muscle) but when I got divorced in 2012 I found myself in need of a new, reasonably priced car. So I went and priced the 2012 and I paid right around $19k new for the car. I definitely come across haters even with other Camaro owners - ranging in comments about the v6 or I'm not a "real" car girl because I bought the car new and have not modded it yet (just went off warranty 2 months ago). Car runs great and is faster than the 2nd gen stock z28s I've owned so to each their own. Getting ready to add CAI and change the exhaust so I know I'll be even happier with the performance then.

I am very happy with my V6. Plenty of power for all my diving situations. Got it new and at a great price with all the options I could have hoped for. I love the adrenaline red interior and the factory installed splitter ZL 1 style spoiler and special stripe that comes on the CE.

In fact when I bought this car I was hunting dealer websites all over the state and came across the pics for mine. Interestingly I did not even know that it was a CE till after I had them bring it up to the local Chevy dealer for me to look at in person. This is a family owned dealer chain so they just transferred it up no cost since they knew I was seriously looking. Tip: Build a relationship with a dealer even if your not ready to pull the trigger yet. Makes the whole process much simpler when the time comes as they will know your not waiting their time. When you start looking but you know your not ready to buy tell the sales people up front and don't horde their time but make a point to let them know that you'll come back to them whe you are.

I'm with you, I could afford to trade up to the SS myself. But I've gotten so attached to this one + I'm so used to defending it that I feel if I trade it in for an SS I'm giving up, saying I need a 6.2 to feel better about myself.

but Thanks, got the LED tail lights for about $240, the wheels dipped black with two cans $20 about 6 layers, z/28 spoiler matte black/unpainted for $58. - The z/28 spoiler does its job well, gives it a good lift while giving me more down force on corners...which makes me floor it around corners more

Mine was a demo used as a service loaner for the dealership I work at. The Demo's may have 1000 to 3000 miles on them but their discounts are huge, and they still have new car percs.

Pay them no mind. A majority of them don't know anything about the power of the LFX let alone what it out muscles...

This blows most of their minds: the 2010 mustang GT made 315 horse power....315 at the crank!!! In 2002 the SS made under 300hp!!

It's funny the old traditional crowd is the first to bash the v6 just because it's a v6 but they fail to look back and realize that it smokes the 2nd- hell even the 4th gen z28
