Having owned a Z06 with iron disks they were really good brakes. I think the CCBs are great but if you track a lot the iron brakes are much more affordable to replace. I would make a statement that most that have CCBs aren't pushing them to their limits where they really shine. My thoughts.

Thanks. I'll be looking forward to mostly spirited mountain driving, "maybe" once in a while going to Road Atlanta.

You would probably would not benefit from CCBs, and the cost may not be worth it. They're best utilized by people/racers who put dramatic heat into their braking systems.

No, it's on my bucket list. I'm dying to compare one to the new ZL1...just to see how much of a difference 350 lbs really makes in the butt-dyno between the Y-body and Alpha platform when all else is "equal".

It is very low to the ground when in it, more than it appears to be looking at it. I'd guess closer to a 450 lbs difference. I'm sure the ZL1 will be a great car. It still has my interest, however buying a Z06/1LZ at 9% off it will be a great deal and not so quick to lose its value.

How'd you figure the value?

I did the math, we can split the difference, . Camaro team estimates 200lb less than last gen ZL1, so: 3920...from 3524, that's 396. Fingers crossed!

On the Internet!

I looked at 2016 Z06/1LZ New $80K, 2015 Z06/1LZ Excellent condition 5,000 miles $78K Private Party. The key is stay away from options if at all possible they don't hold their value. Buy the better level car (Z06, ZL1...)

very interesting!

I put too many miles on my cars, hard track miles at that, to expect any sort of resale value. But hey! I'm glad there are positive options out there!

It will be purely a toy for me not a DD. I will push it even take it to Road Atlanta when I can, but only on fair weather days.

Gotcha.

We put the summer wheels and tires back on the car on Sunday...and the temperature randomly dropped to 37º and started to snow...my car sees every form of environment....

Murphy's law.
What are you looking forward to in moving from your modified 1LE to the new ZL1?

Everything. The 1LE is now an outstanding car...it's as close to emulating a Z/28 as you can get. (Don't worry, no badges)...my goal was always to allow a 1LE to perform the best it possibly can without deviating from the "formula".

Now I'm ready to hop into a car that's on the next level. Supercharged, PTM, 305 tires, Mag Ride, big brakes....

The ZL1 seems to be the whole package stock.
