Anyone installed an oil catch can on a Z28?

I have 3 Elite Cans here and have installed them on Corvettes including a ZR1. Just wondering if any of you z/28 guys have done so, and where you mounted them. I know there is a small one like the ZL1's had on the intake tube but those are really small.

YES! Elite is the one I used. I also had one on the clean side. removed it, it was not needed. It would be nice if I could mount in the cold air area so it will condense better like I did on my ZL1.

Install looks great!

yes...you can see bracket is bolted to the head. It also appears to be the hockey stick bracket.

Idk if a can is necessary with a dry sump as the dry sump tank is baffled and would act as sort of a catch can keeping oil vapors to a minimum. At 4k miles and a few track days I removed my throttle body to see how much oil deposits were inside the intake. I found nothing, very very minor black deposit on the back side of the throttle plate near the shaft, barely visible.

I just drained mine after about 2500 miles and numerous track days. Drained at least 3-4 ounces. I was surprised how much there was.

3-4 ounces seem a lot but you've had numerous track days. is this with 15w50?

i might pickup the elite can with the hockey stick bracket. I don't think I've seen any other applications for the Z?

need some help. i'm new this chevy thing and understanding what is going on with a blow by can. why is it necessary? where is the oil coiming from and if you don't have a can what happens? what do you see? I just took my car on the track for the firsdt time and had to cut it short because I have oil leaking all down the front of my motor. if I have no can am I seeing the results of it?

many thanks. super concerned and my local chevy dealer is clueless.

take it to a different dealer. Also, your question about the catch can will be answered if you just search the forum. its been explained many times. you wouldn't have 10000's of people raving about it and buying it if it didn't do anything.

I wonder why we need a catch can. I searched this forum and only found the two threads, this one and the one that is mentioned above.

So why do we need a catch can or do you have a link to the answer?
