i have an SS(white) and when i pulled them off , they were chrome.

here is a pic after i pulled off the white decals, its the whole reason that i went through the trouble of getting inlays made. on the second pic, you can see some of the chrome still showing on the edges of the black inlays i put on

If you are looking to make your SS symbols black, please do not waste your money on the inlays, unless you want them really glossy, the white ones on my 1SS are stickers therefor they can be removed, all you need is a tool with a pointy end ie. xacto or the end of a tac, if you are skilled with an xacto you can use that all you have to do is pry off the edge slowly of the decal and get a grip on it and it will start to peel away, reveal your original black color behind it.

Let me know if you have any questions

here are some of the tools that can be used , if you do not have a steady hand i would tape off any surrounding area so you don't slip and scratch your paint
why is the piece of white decal longer than the emblem, is it because that is a piece from the bottom that you stuck at the top for your pic??

sorry, i'm calling

guys don't pull off your decals unless you want to change them.

Won't vinyl stretch, maybe that explains why it is longer. Im not a professional installer of vinyl, put the few pieces I have done, you had to stretch the vinyl to get it to fit (ie front bow-tie). In the pic it looks like the long part has been pulled off already, while the rest is still attached to the emblem.
Edit:
On a second glance it looks like the white SS had already been pulled off in the pics and placed back on for the instructional pictures. Still think it stretched out when it was being removed. But again Im not a professional.

Guess if you really want the black SS you can try Santos's advise and if he's wrong you can buy BLACK10's product.

I just think it stinks that the inlay in vinyl and not painted!

i agree, maybe his were black underneath, but I just hate to see anyone pull off their decals for no reason.

i removed all the the white decals from the stock emblems and ALL of them came off intact and not stretched, i used the original ones to make the new ones.

why would gm put a decal on top of a decal? thats just silly
