They are all SS codes, with a RPO code of 1LE The ZL1 however in 2012 was also a SS model code in the 5th position of the VIN. But the 8th digit will be a P for the LSA engine. 2013 started the ZL1 codes in the 5th digit. |

The VIN can be ran through GM's data base and the build can then be investigated. Got a VIN that you want to check and see if it's a 1LE, post it up!

I know that, but you can get the option codes from the VIN and the description of what the option codes are.

I posted another thread with a similar question. I have a2013 SS and the 5th digit is a T. I guess this just means it's a manual SS2. It has nothing to do with the 1le package. I read something to think contrary on other sites. But I guess without the hood, splitter and wing there is no chance it's a 1le.

Thanks to this form, I was able to check the 1LE authentication, by simple looking at the decal at the trunk. Before I signed the purchase paper at the dealer.

I've looked for this in the trunk. I could not find it. Do I have to remove trunk interior and such? Thanks.

Step 2: lift trunk carpet on drivers side. Step 3: read the trunk sticker for what the car is. If no 1le.. then not a factory built 1le. If vin #on sticker does not match the Vin to the car then the seller has a federal problem. Now if they only invented this process back in the late 60's you could spot the fakes. Hence why the document and everything can now be traced to the vin# specifically to the car.. not just in general like the days in the past. In the 60's there were only so many SS, RS, z28 etc.. built, but today everyone has a SS or a z28 gen1.. I respect the guy who just has a plain coupe not badged as something it's not then the person who says oh it's a real SS but can't back it up.
