A bit of a pain in my rear for all the troubleshooting and such but I am happy for now and hopefully will stay that way. I will update this post if anything changes.

Please let us have an update after about a week or so. I still have my parts sitting waiting to decide what panel to go back with. 2015 here too...

2015 has the known incompatibility issues with both products.

Cool

Go a different route in that case! I had the Alpine perfect fit kit, which is similar to the Scosche. I also had to use the FARK in conjunction, which works great. I will try something new with my future project. Instead of using the FARK and intercepting the audio signal before it leaves the amp I will intercept it AFTER it leaves the amp. Audiocontrol makes it's units capable of accepting amplified signals from a stock HU and sum up the channels. I will keep the stock HU and use the Audiocontrol LC7i, look it up, it allows you to add RCA outputs, and gives you a true subwoofer output, and much more.

Sounds pretty good however my search could not come up with any Alpine Perfect Fit kits to fit the 2015 Camaro. I didn't look hard for other kits for other Camaro year models but appeared on the surface to not have any listed for those either. What part number did you use? My sound shop has been looking hard to find an alternate that would work and no luck so far.

Also, the software in the 2015 Camaro is different than earlier Camaros thus why the Metra and Scosche will not work until they do the firmware update. So hopefully at least Metra may have completed theirs.

Also noticed that you mentioned twice about keeping the stock head unit. The whole purpose of needing these kits is to use our own aftermarket head/nav units. What would be the point or need in changing out the dash kit if you are retaining the factory head unit? Does this new kit have a new display interface that will use the iData Link with an external (factory) head unit? I'm new to this and confused now.

The Alpine kit was made in 2011-2012, its extremely hard to find, I sold mine 2 years ago, as far as I know its nearly identical to Scosche. I had an aftermarket HU (ALPINE), it was awesome, however I lost some features. Such as FOB range was limited, OnStar worked sometimes, and my stock mic for phone calls became obsolete. That's why I would keep the stock HU, not for everyone, but that's why I would keep mine. With the Audiocontrol device you can sum up the 4 channels and get a true subwoofer output, unlike FARK which only has 4 ch output. That piggy backs an amp that has a sub out put in order to get a sub added. Check it out http://www.audiocontrol.com/car-audi...-upgrade/lc7i/

I would connect this set up to Alpine Imprint sound processor, its an EQ but intelligent, takes all the guess work out, the PC set up does it for you. I guarantee it will sound way better that what most fellow members have installed.

@MyLocalDJ:
I've had this running now for a week with no problems at all. If you do decide to use the Metra Kit again make sure the interface is updated with an update provided by Metra.

Oddly and I'm not sure if it is accurate or not but when I first checked the firmware on the Metra Interface it was on version 1.8 and the two updates that were sent to me were labeled version 1.4 and then 1.3. Neither of those updates crashed my electrical system and I am still on version 1.3 since I have no reason to change it. If their version labeling is correct then the older firmware versions work fine with our Camaro and only after they have updated it has it caused it to not work. I find this strange and it may just be a version labeling issue meaning that the updates I received could be newer than 1.8 but I have no way of knowing. Either way I am happy now.

I chose the Metra kit because I am not fond of touch screens for climate controls and based on online reviews the Scosche kit touch screen seems to fail a little too early in its lifespan but I do admit it does look prettier.

Scosche Vs Metra

After looking at both units and reading the pros & cons for each I decided on the Scosche Unit which i had a professional install it almost a yr ago and i have had 0 problems.

Thank you Jose! I may touch base with you in another week to make sure. I hate to keep forking out the $$ for an install and then having it pulled. This would be the third time.

I'm glad I chose to install this myself because paying someone to install this and then finding the issues would have been a huge pain. Definitely glad I did this myself. It looked more complicated than it actually was.

Just make sure the interface gets the update from Metra before the install or you will need to pull it out to update it again and that will be extra work.

OnStar stopped working after a week or so. If I disconnected the battery, OnStar would work for another week or so and then go out. The Stereo and Climate controls worked fine. However, after pulling out the stereo so many times due to a defective HVAC harness from Metra and updating the firmware 3 times I have given up on this kit. I will not try Scosche because of the poor reviews as well. I will just keep my stock stereo and live with it for now.
