So we MAY go back again to SMALLER rims nobody knows

You can only get so big maybe 22" to 28"
THEN.................
If in the GETTO goes to SMALL rims, YOU may want those COOL small rims............. It might take many years for that to happen.

To me 18" on the 2010 Camaro is the right size !!

The reason why rims were so large in the first part of the last century is because they were basically a carry-over from a style that had been in use for thousands of years, and from covered wagon days where stage coaches, wagons and buggies had large wheels to provide ground clearance over many kinds of terrain. It also helped to elevate the driver/rider up above the dust and mud kicked up by horses, mules and oxen. Cars at first were basically horseless carriages and were referred to that way.

As the road network began to be put into place after the world wars 1 and 2, wheel sizes came down which was a combination of the need to reduce the amount of rubber used in tires because of scarcities imposed by the wars as well as being more practical for the new network of paved roads being built.

Smaller rims and tires are lighter and provide better acceleration and stopping distances than larger rims and tires. If people want to go back to wagon wheel sizes because they like the look they certainly can but understand there's a performance hit for doing so.

People tend to refer to certain looks by the area or group that it's seen in the most. Lots of attention-getting "bling" is most often seen in areas where money and affluence typically are not seen. Individuals want to appear to have wealth so they go to extremes to give that appearance; hence the term "ghetto" as a look or style because those types of neighborhoods sport that look the most often. On cars they tend towards excessive modifications that make them stand out and get attention; big equals more expensive so they try and do everything "big".

In Asian areas you see young individuals wanting to appear "fast and powerful" which is very similar to the desire to appear wealthy which is equated with power. Thus you'll see all kinds of excessive things put on their cars which in their mind gives them that "look" and so that kind of look has come to be known as "rice" which, just as the term "ghetto" does, describes specific types of looks and/or behaviors that people recognize and have associated with the areas/people who started them.

Look the factory upgarded wheels are 21" so 1" does not make it ghetto as some of these people like to to call it as long as you get forged wheels you can go with 22" overall Diameter stays the same you just get more metal less rubber and in my opinion looks good reason you want forged wheels is cause it is a muscle car so you do not want some heavy wheels and it is your car if you like it go for it

If performance is your primary concern for picking things like wheels, then I hate to break the news to you: The Camaro is NOT the best choice in terms of performance either. This Camaro handles like an SUV compared to my C6 Corvette. Buying a Camaro proves that not everyone bases 100% of their decisions on performance alone, so why continue beating the same drum?

I always agreed with the notion that 22s are too big on any car. THIS car can handle them just fine. Nobody, NOBODY, complained at the concept with 22s and 21s. People have guessed mine being 20s anyway. If you want to tell me they are "All show and no go" that's fine. So, then, any Corvette can say the same about the Camaro all together. And question your performance desire.

Performance is relative. I can put 22s on my car, do some headers and a big Maggie and beat a Shelby easily. So I could have beat him by .4 instead of .3, big deal. I can find a way to get that tenth back. I'm not gonna compete, so i think, IF DONE RIGHT, they can look damn good, and DAMN mean.

There will ALLWAYS be somone faster.

YES! I don't understand why people go with bigger wheels that only end up taking the focus off the car as a whole and puts it squarely on the wheels. The wheel should accessorize the car, not the other way around. Personally, I cannot find one wheel that I like more than the polished aluminum factory wheel that we paid $500 extra for.
