Better check the sticky and lose the f bombs before the mod locks this thread.
I feel your pain, but take it easy on the language. Nothing can be done to make it like new again except replace the rim, or have it professionally repaired and re-chromed (I would just buy another rim). Never use any sort of car wash with low profile rims. Lesson learned - the hard way. |

you may be able to find a touch up paint and clear that would match....you may also be able to get the carwash to pay, but i doubt it

i know all the washes have signs that tell you what you cannot have, so you should check that, and see if there is a limit to the wheel size or anything like that. If everything on the car checks out and it apears that it should be safe for the car to go through, then talk to the manager, and see if he will do anything to help you, and if not, call shell. and by help, i mean buy new wheels. It may be a dead end, but who knows, they may fix it.
one of my friends got gas from BP, since they had their premium gasoline coming out of a green nozzle, he got gasoline instead of diesel, BP paid for all repairs to the car.

you won't get anything out of the wash for any damage. All of those types of places have disclaimers everywhere about how they are not responsible for any damage from using their wash due to the wide variety of vehicles. This is why I do not take my car to washes that use the automatic system. Having to drive your car onto that track just leaves to much chance for damage. Not to mention the spinning brushes and things will probably give you swirl marks. I only take my car to "touchless" car washes. You drive in onto a big cement parking pad. Then an arm works around your car spraying it with water, soap, wax etc. No swirling brushes, no track system to chip your rims on.
Sorry for you problem man. In the future on go to car washes without the track for the wheels, and no spinning brushes. I am sorry to say, but I really don't think you are going to get anything out of the wash. Most places the sign right before you drive in says "Due to the variety of vehicles "so-and-so" car wash is not responsible for any damage that may occur when using this wash". Or something along those lines. Good luck with fixing it man

Ultimately, you're gonna end up paying out of pocket for repair or new wheels. Then, receipts in hand representing your "damages", you can go after some level compensation from the Car Wash.
This is a *huge* lesson for everyone on this forum... wash your own car, don't let a car wash touch it, and only use good stuff when you do it. Protect your paint like you protect your skin... to your car, it's just as vital.

That sucks dude, sorry for your pain. I am afraid new rims may be the only true resolve. You can sand out the rust, mask them off and hit them with some spray chrome paint, it will be noticeable, but better than rusting.
Car washes have disclaimers everywhere. NEVER go through those things, they recycle water, it is like a liquid sandblast!!

Holy smokes man i cant believe u put your car through anything but a touchless car wash
This is a painful lesson but i promise you will never do this again. Good news is that it can be repaired. In the future hand wash or touchless. Go to the detailing section of this site good information for people taking car of there new ride.
