Recommendations on pistons ? If I am doing the rods, pistons go hand and hand...

I went with Diamond. It will be a custom job no matter who you go with. Unless you want to drop your compression to 10.5 then you might be able to just order the pistons they made for me

Can you PM me the spec info on your pistons and what you did, and the $$$ ?
Your build has taken on a life of its own...
Thanks

I paid like 1250 for the pistons w/ pins and rings. I would have to dig up the info on them but if you look back in this thread I posted the part numbers. Surely Diamond could just make a matching set since they have that part number in their system now. But like I said, these are 10.5:1 pistons. Not sure you would want that unless planning huge boost. Magnum has showed that a lot is possible with methanol injection even with high boost and high compression. Lowering compression will negatively affect performance when not in boost(normal driving).

Trent,
Can you send me your custom job number for Diamond ?
Asked me for it, so they can work on pistons.
Thanks
Bill

I'll have to see if I can find my paperwork from them. They can't look it up by the part number they made for them?

I looked but now that I think about it, I didn't get any spec sheets with my pistons. I sent Aaron@GPI two of my pistons and he spec'd them and worked with Diamond to make what I wanted. I'd say if someone wants forged pistons just send the piston company a sample piston to work off of and let them know what you want. Really just needs to be forged with a thicker top ringland and the ability to fit a standard type rod(not the tapered end rod like factory). And whatever compression change one would want.

NOOO! I just read all 81 pages of this post and the story isn't completed! Haha, that's okay something to look forward to.

I just wanted to say that you are my hero. People are always saying that the LFX can't do this, or can't do that, well you will definitely show them. I've always wanted to turn my Inferno Orange M6 V6 into something Nasty! Now I have an roadmap to follow. You've definitely paved the way to greatness for us V6 owners. Now I can tell naysayers that my V6 has the potential to beat your V8.

Just one thing though. If I did all of this to my current Camero which is at 55,000 is my engine too old? There were some comments about it early in the post that even 30,000 miles was possibly too much. Why would this be if I were redoing all the pistons forged?

Thanks!

Thanks for all the kind words, but I'm not really paving the way. I'm actually just following what a few of the "pioneers" did. GretchenGotGrowl and GPI really did all the experimenting and made it possible for people like me to do this. Here's his build thread from years ago. It's a good read and still the most powerful V6 Camaro ever built. http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=258249

And I don't think 55K is too many miles.

I added the new IAT sensor to the intake manifold. I'm not crazy about the location but it will do. I wanted to put it on the side where MagnumForce put his but I just couldn't being myself to try it on this new intake. I practiced on an old intake that was no good and I just couldn't get it to work well on the side because the plastic is so thin there. I ended up putting it in the top right in the middle of one of the circles in the webbing structure. It has a lot more meat to the plastic up there.

Will that IAT sensor be in addition too or in place of ?

Use E6000 GOOP on NPT threads going through thin walls. Once it cures it is a soft gel that seals without having to torque the NPT.
