Yesterday it was 0 and today it is about 26-27. She has been sitting under the cover unused for about a month. The battery is original and I wanted to see if she would start. I used the remote start and it started. I was very surprised and impressed.

Will your battery last longer if you don't drive your car? I have a 2010 with 17,000 miles on it and she stays in the garage since new.

I have had a OEM battery last for 8 years, but that was on a pickup that was equipped with a oversized battery and alternator from the factory. Plus it had no power accessories.
I believe the more electrical load you put on your car the shorter the battery life. And every time you let the battery diascharge to a low voltage also shortens battery life.
Whenever I have to replace a battery I get the most powerful one that will fit.
My average lifespan for an OEM battery is 5 years.

My car is too young to kill the battery yet, but I'd like to know.

Two years mostly, occasionally three years before I change them out.

Indeed, contrary to popular belief, heat kills batteries.

Trunk space will get VERY HOT if it's a dark car sitting in direct sunlight, mid-summer, middle of day, in places like Florida.

Still way better than the engine bay as you pointed out.

Dead Battery

I started my 2010 SS about a month ago. Forgot to put the tender back on. I tried to start it this weekend- Completely dead. I put the tender on but after a week the lites on the charger/tender are still blinking red/green. :-( I will try a jump after the deep freeze ends, but I'm preparing myself for having to shell out for a new battery. 6000 miles on it by the way....I read somewhere that there is a recall on the battery cable near the starter shorting out. Wonder if there's any connection(pardon the pun).

I've been having some anxiety about my battery. It's over 6 years old, OEM & I'm just waiting for it to die. This has been the longest lasting battery I've every had.

my car is going on three years with the same battery and i was thinking it might be near that time to start considering a replacement. After reading some of these posts, it looks like i have at least another 2 years before i start to worry. Good thing i found this thread before i bought i new one.

I've had a battery last 8 years, it had a 7 year warranty.

My battery on the Camaro went bad last year, but it was my own fault

Either AC Delco is making cheaper batteries or I just got a bad one. 2014 with 20k miles on it, battery died while at the dealer getting other service work done.

The one in my '07 9C1 Impala lasted a little over 7 years, this one in the Camaro was dead in 2.

It really depends on your environment. Hot weather kills them.

I got over 5 years out of mine and it was still working when I replaced it as a precaution.......I am in Texas so it survived extreme heat and cold.

Mine just failed , replaced it with an H8 instead of the H7 that came in it . The H8 is slightly longer but all other dimensions are the same. The H8 has more CCA , around 1000 versus the stocks around 800 and it was $40 cheaper. I can tell a difference when starting spins much faster ! My original lasted 6 years .
