With his tune, it gets aggressive at 3k rpms meaning it will jump into 2nd, 3rd, etc. If you keep it under 3k, the shifts won't jump. I had him dyno tune mine and love the aggressive shifts, if I want a nice smooth ride ill keep it under 3-3500 rpms.

Muscle Car Atrophy
I own a 2014 Camaro 2 SS 16000 miles on it., it is a Automatic same tires that came with the car, Pirelli. I got a little crazy and decided to try and do a burn out.. Several Times. I have to say, I was pretty (very) disappointed to find I could not get the tires to chirp let alone spin.. . Note: I turned off the Traction Control and stuck it in Manual making sure I was in First Gear, Power Braking the car. I also find that the car will only go to about 1500 RPM while Power Braking no matter how hard I push the peddle to the floor. The car just seems to hesitate then go but never spinning the tires. I tried the Fuss Pull Scenario and I have 93 Octane in the car all the time. I am going to purchase a extended Warranty from Warrantech
Customer Edge just in case. I really do not want to void that Warranty with a Tune, I feel it is unreasonable to have to do a Tune . I tried to talk to one Chevy dealer but did not get far. One dealer would not even talk to me because I did not buy the car at their Dealership. ! Here's the big question...Is this the best the car will be without some modification? Not trying to tick anyone off but I do NOT see a lot of Gen 5 Camaro's at the Car Meets on Long Island and we have a lot of meets here, Mostly I see Challengers and Mustangs, do they know something I don't.. ?? I do really like the Camaro I think its the overall better car. Was determined to get one, determined enough to worked 4 years at night in a second job just to buy it.! ;-[ Sorry if I sound Negative. Again no offense to anyone. Just looking for any ideas other than a Tune or anything that will void the Drive Train Warranty and or the Extended Warranty. Safe Driving and thank you. |

A tune does not always void a warranty but it certainly can and likely would if something serious like an engine or trans failure occurred. As for the Ex warranty that is a personal choice but I think your money could be better spent elsewhere. The Camaro is a solid car and a very reliable one too by all accounts. You are gambling that it will fail when you buy one of those... |

If you want to burn up your tires on a automatic get a line lock kit. Then take it off if you need any warranty work done. A good tune will help but I don't think they can track a line lock set up since you are just WOT. But I'm not sure exactly what the computer can record.

Thank you both for your quick reply. It confirms that there is nothing wrong with my car. It is what it is. Not sure why there is a traction control button? Good Luck.

Get a tune and you can blow your tires off all day long. It's prevented by your stock torque management settings. A tune can change that. Better than other options.

There is plenty of video evidence both here and on YouTube illustrating EXACTLY why there is a traction control button.

When my SS was stock (L99), I had no problem at all smoking the tires with TC/ST off. A little pressure on the brake and tromp on the gas and they'd break loose big time. That's with P-Zeros also.

PalmerGA, Not sure what the difference between your then Stock SS and my Stock SS but I guess I drew the short straw. I have noticed (read) some folks do not have this issue and others do. I guess the torque management has a lot to do with it. I am sure the Chevrolet Engineers know for sure. I never thought to try and smoke the tires with the car Salesman in the car with me.. should have. Thanks

I agree with Palmer I have a 2012 and the trick was to make sure both tc and st are off. If one is on you won't break the tires loose.

I think the torque management is a big factor in this too. After the tune my car spins when going into 2nd most of the time and this is with all the nannies on. I think the TC does less than the actual torque managemet does to prevent wheelspin. On my Silverado truck any slippage at all engages the TC.
