imo, until GM changes the 'appearance' of the 6th gen, sales will continue to decline. Incentives can only help so much...

I read the refresh is scheduled for 2019. It should be changed to an earlier date.
GM also needs to seriously start marketing it. A dozen Facebook posts a day isn't working.

Ahh, I love a good debate. I actually work for a dealership and most of our new camaro inventory is 2016's with the exception of maybe 2 or 3 17's. I love reading all of this though because I had intentions of buying a '16 2SS but they are still just too expensive to justify buying one. I'm in a 2012 RS with 55,000 miles right now and had intentions of just waiting a year or so for a used '16 with 20,000 miles or so on it. Some dealerships aren't as lenient as you'd think when it comes to "moving" cars off the lot. My dealership for instance is only taking like $2,000 of sticker price on a 2016 2SS.

I test drove a Hyper Blue 2016 1SS and the chassis designers hit one out of the park. It's a sharp handling machine, and quite a leap ahead of the Gen 5 and the Mustang GT. But the styling failed IMO. Early on there were rumors a little bit of the late 70's early 80's Gen 2 styling was going to find it's way into the Gen 6. But it just came out as a squashed Gen 5. I was a little disappointed.

Not trading in my 5th gen. I like it better than then new model and I can care less about keeping up with the Gotta have newest product crowd!

EXACTLY!

I said it before, a "modern" 70.5-73 Gen6 would have been a home run.

Its the styling. The performance had to be there for the halo effect, but styling is a big part of such a personal car. V6 buyers may be buying purely on styling, never opening the hood, watering down the performance improvement affect on sales.

Pricing: it may be ok to let sales volume decline and move the car upmarket. Profits may be higher despite lower sales. Also only so many V8/V6 cars can be sold at the expense of high margin trucks in our CAFE world.

I wonder about the new demographics. Income is concentrated in new areas. The mid-Atlantic government centric economies are at the top of the list in terms of high-middle income. Have you been to DC? Domestic cars are not 'in'.

You realize that 95% of people who purchase a Mustang GT, Challenger RT or SRT & Camaro SS will never take it to the track, right?
So a half second longer to 60 is moot for the majority of America. My 2015 SS is slower than both the 2016 Mustang & Camaro. I'm sure as hell not gonna run out to spend on a new car because I don't have the latest & fastest.
I agree with you here. If performance were all that mattered I would kiss my L99 goodbye and go for the faster car. Nope it is fast enough and I still enjoy it every time I'm in it.

If I was going to buy I would likely go Mustang this round with the idea that its a little slower in real world driving (not drag strips as I don't care about that) but nicer looking to my eyes. I suspect its roomier inside though I honestly don't know the answer to that as I have never sat in a new Mustang. I did sit in a gen 6 once though...

A loaded 2SS is north of 60K in Canada which is just crazy! I would be looking for a good used ZL-1 long before I chased after the Gen 6 SS....
