The SS is the car I've been waiting for afterall this is my dream ride. I didn't want a 500HP Z/28 just the middle of the road car with a V8. The pricing is what could scare me off. Anything over 30K and I just can't do it. So I'm def considering the v6 but not because I really want it I'm just not sure I can afford the SS. I should have known pricing would be low 30s because that's where the GTO was.

The V6 might...the 3.9L Impala has it and it shuts down 3 cylinders...

I think they will make an RS-SS. That will be a V8

I'm saying one way or the other yet.
Cold, hard numbers have yet to be released from GM, so I've got that to look at, and my buying period is still about 2-3 years away, so I have to adjust for circumstances....

Still, if I were going right now and buying one; I'd either get a loaded V6, or a bottom-level V8. It would all hinge on wether or not the V6 has adequate 'punch' for me. (chances are...it will)

I'm waiting for diesel. Probably the only one too. With EFILive, 4" exhaust and a cold air intake guys are getting 21-26 mpg out of their Duramax. Cut the weight of the vehicle close to 1/2 of the truck and they might get 35-38mpg. Switch settings and see 600-1000hp on the rollers. Wonder what the 1/4 times would be? Mid to hi 9's? Not uncommon to get mid 11's from a extended cab short box. I guess I hope that biodiesel has a reasonable future. Maybe the 4.5L Dmax won't weigh so much but a 6.6L would plant the nose down a bit. Ok so I'm a goof.

I think I'll go with the V8 RS, unless the SS looks better. I would definetly get a V6 if it had 350-375 horses, but... I'll ask my dad, he had a Camaro, and if it was a V6, then i'll get a V6.

Well I like diesel power and if diesel is at 5-6 a gallon then regular is going to be about 4.29-5.29. It's easier to make fuel for a diesel than gasoline but right now since diesel is in demand they are shipping it overseas and the cost is higher. But the current price of diesel plus the extra oil required for a diesel engine and extra cost to equip a car with a diesel engine really aren't going to sell very well in the US. It's huge in European countries(Audi TD, Mercedes, VW and BMW) and might make it here someday. With modern diesel engines their efficiency is about double that of a gasoline engine. Well I guess it has been for like since ever but now they are cleaning up the exhaust which most people don't like. A person would have to enjoy the idea of a diesel engine to buy one and most Americans aren't there yet. That's why were aren't really seeing the advantages yet.No demand, no market. But I have a 68 GTO with a dead motor and it might get a Duramax. A guy put one in a Buick Regal (not a GNX) and gets 35mpg. Dial in hp and have a blast. We'll see what happens in the future. Either way this is gonna be a bad a$$ car!

My plan was V8 all the way, it's the whole reason to leave my RX8 to get a great GM V8 before they die away possibly but the price of gas might neuter me of those dreams.
