I'm in the Tampa area, so we have similar weather. I can tell you from experience, you don't want to get caught on wet roads with any of the MT drag radials. I've been caught in the rain twice and both times the pucker factor was way up there. You couldn't get a pin up my a$$ with a jackhammer....

I would just use the nt555 G2 on the front. That would up your survival rate a few percent if caught in the rain. lol

I should clarify, they spin now more than they did 'new', but even with only about 800 miles on them i can spin them from a 70 launch; or i can spin through 2nd and chirp into 3rd (auto trans) if i don't control my launch.

650 WHP on a 315x30x20 so no where near as high as HP as you're talking, I was just responding to the guy that wanted info on R888s. If you're over 700WHP you'll need a drag radial to hook in any gear darn near, and if you're over 800 WHP then you'll want a shorter wheel (17 seem the best all around) and a drag tire.
But like someone said, you'll lose handling to get straight line traction, no way around it and the closest compromise between the two is R888s IMO. But for 750WHP+ you'll probably spin them bad in 1st and 2nd. |

Yeah the street Rs are about the most hardcore DR out there. Closest to a slick for sure. I had the et street 2 (basically same as S/S) on my 20s and they were terrible in the rain. Best DR that you can drive in the rain is the nitro nt05 but nittos don't compare to MT at all. IMO

Overall, I believe I am going with the MT ET street s/s. I like the look of my 20 inch wheel but they only make a 305/35/20. My MPSS on the rears are 315/35/20; But MT makes a 315/35/17 so I think I may need to look into a cheap wheel for the 17s and keep the 20 on the front (hoping it doesn't look wonky). And I have read some about fitment issues with the 17 inch wheel. Any fabrication need to be done to run a 17 inch wheel? Here are three wheel options I have found: American Racing Custom Wheels AR105 Torq Thrust M Gloss Black Wheel With Machined Lip 17x10.5 $161.59 OE Wheels Chevrolet - Corvette ZR1 Wheel - Black 17x11 $130.00 FR 500 style wheel 17x10.5 $139.00 each All three of these are decently priced; just wondering if they will fit on the rear of a zl1.

I was looking at some welds for the longest time, but just decided to do a budget wheel setup and spend that extra money on a nitrous kit. I went with the factory reproductions 18x11. $275 a piece shipped and then my tires. All ended up a little under 1200 and look great since they match the stock black 20s

Yeah I like that setup. Only problem is that the mt I want in a 315 is a 35 17 they 18 inch tires are a 305 or a 345 and I doubt the zl1 can fit a 345 lol

The 345's will fit just fine with the correct offset wheels.

345 wouldn't fit, unless you did a lot of custom work (Or are ok with it sticking way the heck out). |
