Aftermarket shift knobs on the 1LE

My suede shift knob has lost all the suede, so I'm looking for aftermarket knobs. Do I have to get a new boot or can I take the knob off the boot and still use it with the new one? Also while you're here can anyone tell me the thread pattern? Thanks!

Boot can stay. Try EPCO for custom 1LE knobs, great people to deal with. Also, chances are your knob is fine, just got very dirty over time (dirt from hands, oils from skin, etc). Many ways to clean it, search this forum. I use Jax suede/microfiber cleaner and a tooth brush every 1000 miles or so. 11k miles on mine, wheel, dash, seat inserts and knob look brand new. Hope this helps. (I'm not a fan of aftermarket only because the factory one is so nicely weighted).

Rotate the chrome ring counterclockwise and the boot slides down with the ring. The knob has one torx bolt on passenger side. I might be wrong rotation lol but ull figure it out, it takes a bit of force.

I ordered a leather oem shifter, not a fan of suede after experiencing it on my 1LE. Wheels for sale too now going to leather Sabelt wheel.

Trust me, it's down to bare leather.
I've never taken it off, does the knob come off with the boot? Or can I leave the boot on and just swap the knob?

Yes, what Mgizzle said. I've taken mine off a couple times. His instructions are correct. lift and turn chrome ring at the same time. careful not to force too much, youll snap the plastic tabs

How would a new knob go on? Is it a set screw or a thread adaptor?

EPCO knobs has the same GM adaptor. Adaptor is one with the knob. take out hex screw, slip off old knob, slip on new and retighten hex screw. use some tread lock, screw has tendency to loosen over time

I was on Epco's website, and couldn't find the 1LE shifter ball. I know that someone makes the shifter ball with 1LE on it. Anyone know ?

How did you do that? About 30K miles on my 1LE and my shifter looks brand new.
