I'm so glad I read this thread.jman there are some roads by homestead we can practice by. I'm down to dedicate a night to laying out 60ft and run with a timer to practice.

Don't waste your time running your car at a strip unless on radials or slicks. Waste of time/money.

I've cut 1.60's on the stock P-Zeros. It can be done and I was well above 480rwhp.

Sorry to revive an old thread, Could line lock be used to hold the car as well, or are you specifically trying to hold the rear tires with the Ebrake?

Does anyone have a video of themselves doing this ebrake method? I would like to see the timing and hear the car on the launch.

Yep, you aren't giving it enough clutch to spin the tires, just enough to take up the slack in the drive train and load the car as soon as the yellows start coming down so you are not on the clutch too long and get it too hot.

2013 SS M6, Hoosier slicks, 1500 rpm launch, 1.57 60'. As the clutch comes out the gas goes on, WOT by the tree.

Another question...can the e-brake be easily adjusted to remove as much tension on the lock button thereby making the holding/release of the e-brake less of an effort? granted it's not that much but...

and to the line loc q....isn't that the "best" method? more $$$ but ...

Line lock is generally for the front brakes.

Line locks aren't that expensive and they are a great buy. Front brakes are the strongest brakes so it would take some testing to know how much to come off the clutch as it would take more to roll through huge brembos rather than a measly e-brake. The key is for the car to initiate a roll but then force it to stop by pulling on the ebrake as hard as you can and maintain your slip on the clutch.

Line locks definitely help with burnouts though.

That's what happens when you take it to the worst tuner in the West Coast, things go boom. He was the 6th one I knew about just this half year. I and others tried to warn him.

Saw a customer of the same shop at the drag strip on Sunday run 12.7-13 with a lsa conversion and 6l80. Should easily be a mid to low 11 second car but he was probably sold an incomplete kit without the right fuel pump or injectors. He's next.
