Something that occurred to me that I did not read elsewhere is the piston coolers. LFX sprays jets of oil onto the bottom side of the pistons to cool them. This will increase the amount of oil vapor in the crankcase which will increase the amount of oil in the PCV system. Making a catch can all that more important.

I wouldn't worry about it . I've only seen the one person that had a warranty denied .

I think after some investigation that GM came to there senses and honored the warranty.

So GM honored the warranty on the car everyone signed the petition for ? I don't remember hearing that, i thought he had it fixed himself. My dealer says GM might void the warranty or refuse to pay to repair if aftermarket parts are installed. Best i remember he had to repair his engine himself and GM denied his warranty because he had the catch can installed when he took it the dealer.

Kenny were u referring to the superman09 incident i just looked at that thread again and GM screwed him royally, he paid out of pocket to fix his car and they cancelled his warranty. So in my opinion it is install a catch can or css at your own risk still unless GM chanaged policy on catch cans?

Now I may be mixing up two different thread/stories. Yes the one that Mr Stacy started the petition for. Yes they denied him his warranty.. but then 6-8 weeks later after he had paid to have the motor tore down and diagnosed that the fuel pump had indeed had failed, they had forwarded the info to GM the results of the investigation, and then the reimbursed him his cost due to a fuel pump failure. Maybe I'm mixing an ending in to that catch can/warranty issue. But I think that's what happened, but maybe I'm wrong. When I took my car in to get my free first oil change, I asked the service manager what mods could I do to my engine without voiding the warranty. They told me that I owned the car and I could do what I wanted to do to it. I asked about bolt ons, they said that was fine. I asked what would void the warranty, he said nitrous would. I asked about supercharging or turbos, and he said if I bought it and they, the dealership did the install that it would be covered as long as it wasn't something crazy. So some dealerships will just tell you all mods will void the warranty because it's easier for them to. Do some research for a local dealership that is more mod friendly, they are out there. Bolt on mods shouldn't void any warranty.

Well at least u have a dealer that seems to be on your side, my dealer will not over look anything so if i install a catch can i would have to take it off before i took it back to the dealership. And yes i would gladly pay for them to install it if it wasn't going to cause a warranty issue, but the guy in charge of the service department is a twunt. So now they lost the money for install on my cfd shifter and the parts and install of my brembo brake conversion. And I will probably start getting my oil changes at a local mechanic, now that the free oil changes are over, and i will only go to the dealership for warranty work. Ok rant over and as u can tell I am not all warm and fuzzy for my current dealership.

Ok i am all confused i thought it was a oil pump failure, the ls3's were having oil pump failures, so it was a fuel pump that grenaded his engine and not the oil pump. I haven't seen any other tread but the one Mr Stacy started the petition about. I need to start paying closer attention to the threads since i have decided to start modding my car finally but i don't want to lose my warranty since i got the extended one.

I would check around for a local dealership other than the one you bought the car from that isn't such a nozzle about mods ..they are out there. Maybe you half to drive a half hour more to get there ,but you won't have to tear your mods off then put them back on every time you take it in.
