First, I have yet to drive a '17 1LE but I have driven a '15 1LE and a Manual '16 1SS with MRC and they only way I could imagine someone thinking that the older 1LE "felt faster" could be from how smooth the new cars are, the suspension setup and MRC soak up the road so well and keep the car so planted that it could give you the illusion that you aren't going as fast. Where the older cars conventional suspension on a slightly heavier car with more body roll.

OP here, I'm not saying the car was bad. I'm just saying I was not as impressed as I thought that I would be. I took it out, sales manager told me to drive it like I stole it, so I did. I've tracked my 15 1le a couple times and loved it. Obviously I'm not going to push it to its limits on a test drive. That being said I did a couple rolling starts-80mph in it. It felt very similar to my current 1le. For that big of a price difference I was far from impressed. I'd much rather have a 5th gen ZL1 when I do upgrade.

They even called me today, told me they would take another $1500 off the car give me 27k for my car, but I just can't justify that much $ for a minor upgrade.

I imagine, if you were closer to upgrade time...less money owed on your current car, you might think differently....maybe. |

You may be right. But I am a 21 year old college student, I work hard for my $ just like everyone else. I've got less than a year before I pay off my 1LE and another 17k of car to pay for is not real appealing. I do like the car, there is not doubt about that, but dollar/enjoyment factor vs. my current set up, I wasn't that impressed. Thank you for being realistic and not sarcastic like some of the other members. [:

But you came into their house, and said you weren't impressed with their furniture. Could you expect any different? I've had several iterations of 5th gen Camaro, so I can kind of relate to you...although I do find the new 1LE to be a significant improvement over the old...It's just that you have to take it to the limit to really enjoy that benefit, as the old one is still so good. I started with a ZL1, in 2012...then a 1LE in 2013...and have since upgraded that car with Z/28 suspension, aero, 7000 rpm redline, and ZL1 brakes... Gives you an idea of my perspective. |

The title of you post should have been
Test drove a 17 1LE, For me its not worth paying $17,000 to upgrade from my 15 1LE. Everyone could relate to that. You have a 2015 1LE at 21 years old. That's awesome. The fact that you realize its not worth it to upgrade shows that you are smart, you have an amazing car already, I totally agree with you, its not worth $17,000 dollars to upgrade to a 2017, save your money, finish college, then you can buy whatever you want. The 2017 1LE is a much better car in almost every respect, technology, performance etc. If you could get a good price for your car and it was only $7000 more to upgrade, then it might be worth it. At $17000 dollars more its not worth losing your a$$.. That's different than saying I'm not impressed. |

I added to my title. In no means do I have anything against the car. I really enjoyed it, it's Aesthetically pleasing & I know its lighter & has more power than my car. As stated above, I was no where near $17k difference impressed vs my car. Obviously I did not get to drive the car to its full capabilities, I may have been blown away at that point. I don't know, but for now I'll be finishing my degree and loving every row of the 3.91's in my car. I meant no disrespect to those who have the new car, I apologize that my title may have been a little misleading. Good evening & God bless you all.

I owned a 14 1LE right before buying my 1SS. Hands down, my 6th gen is better in EVERY way. Not even close. Your experience surprises me. To each their own I suppose.

No disrespect taken at all, I totally agree with you. If I had a 15, I wouldn't upgrade either. Its not a 17000 dollar upgrade. 5k maybe worth it.

It really is. You can't even fully appreciate the capabilities of the ol' hippo unless you take it to it's limits. I can totally see not being impressed enough to trade up with just a quick ride around the block.

I think people jumped to take offense to this review too quickly. We all like the 6th gen and I personally can't wait to test drive a 1LE or ZL1.
That said 20k is a lot of money when you already have a pretty great car. Also seat of the pants calibration varies wildly. Most have said that they could feel the difference easily, but not everyone will. I personally always felt the 95-96 LT1 cars felt quicker than my 99SS even though I knew they were not. Even if the 6th gen feels quicker, does it feel 20k quicker? That's a matter of opinion. It can also be clouded by expectations. If everyone has been talking about how much faster it is then their 5th gen, he may have had higher expectations. Nothing wrong with that.
