I used the kooks with kooks catless connectors. Very easy install with ramps from the bottom. No issues with steering boot and the cupped connectors make alignment and sealing a breeze.

Only issue was i didn't like the kooks gaskets in the kit and reused the stock ones.

Not sure what texas emissions is but the Tune Jannetty has sets the rear o2 sensros in a state thats at least passable in MD. Less than 2 weeks after putting on I got the test notice. Sweated all the way in thinking i would need to figure a way to run a stock tune and trick the rear o2s. Plugged it up checked and passed. Since the connector pipes have a bung on the, they appear as slim cats to the unknowing.

Go to MD speed and ask for brian in chat, always has good prices

Running no cats and headers, with spots for all four o2 sensors is all the exhaust you will ever need. With Ted's tune I was able to pass OBD emissions in MD which is pretty tight.

Typically Maryland Speed has been running end or month sales (check vendor section), (to get to goals) and the prices are aggressive.

The Jannetty package is doable in a weekend and really turns on the car. Its brutally fast through all the range and sounds great.

I did the same. Bought the JRE 125rwhp kit from another member for around 2K and did the install myself. Had Ted do the tune and can't be happier.

I initially started with a similar budget. Put in CAI, rotofab supercharger coolant reservoir, ported VMAX TB, kooks catless headers, 10" lower pulley, ID850 injectors, and tuned and was at about 600RWHP. Although had a lot of weird issues with the tune on it (timing being pulled during medium acceleration in a certain RPM range that could not get to the bottom of). Eventually went down to Salt Lake City and took it to JDP and got their BTR3 custom grind cam, pushrods, valve springs, heat exchanger, meth inj, and re-tuned and am much happier now. It's not that much more and personally well worth it IMO. Think between the 2 shops I went to did about 8k in parts/labor for 700RWHP.

I would suggest a simple stage 1 kit...I went with Vengeance Racing 2.55 upper pulley, Roto Fab CAI, solid isolator, plugs, 160* thermostat, tune and installation $2,400.00...Save your remaining funds for future mods...Pull the fuse to keep the cutouts open, no cost...Results in my signature...Many vendors offer these kits at comparable pricing...

That actually sounds perfect for being that far under budget. Vengeance is way too far from me. I wonder if I could have them send me the parts for that package (without the CAI because I now have a hookup on one of those), then have the install and tune done locally..

If you're in Texas there are plenty of rebuttable shops, I was just using Vengeance as an example...

As bad as I hate to admit it, I want the headers just as much for the sound as the performance haha

I didn't run cats on my ZL1 and passed inspection every time. As long as your tuner knows what he's doing you should be fine in that area. Andy is an awesome choice for you especially since you are in the area.

Here's what I would do for the ~5k installed.
Upper and Lower Pulley with interchangeable rings
ID850 injectors (you'll need these for sure)
American Racing Headers no cats
Ron Davis heat exchanger
D3 Coolant reservoir
Tune

There you guys are! I knew I'd seen y'all around reading through these forums. Yeah I'm probably just going to do your ZL 650 with some headers and maybe a lower pulley upgrade.

When I come back to the states I'm definitely going to give you a call man. Could be early February or maybe even early June, just whenever my company decides to let me take some vacation. It's not fighting season yet so maybe earlier than later I hope! I'll save the number though for sure.
