Lol well you should be working for GPI. You'd sell a lot of cams! I tried sending him (rhino) a pm a few days ago and haven't got a response. Is there a better way for me to contact him?

Why are you scared of a converter? If I were doing it over I'd go ss3 or ss4 and I daily drive. As John said as long as you check the oil you're good.

I am considering a SS1 only because I want to keep my stock converter until I put on a whipple or heartbeat. Don't want to have restall or do that twice. I've also heard a SS1 will work with a blower so that means I only have to cam it once.

Buy the car that you would most like to get beat in. The other guy will always be faster.

Probably better off doing it all at once and then having a cam spec'd for the roots blower. Would save money in labor install and would run smoother with the right converter stall speed.

I will be installing the cam myself. I also have no intention on stalling the trans until I put on the blower hence the leaning towards the SS1.

I talked with Aaron at GPI and now I am waiting for the UPS van to bring me a VVT SS3 Cam, Ported heads, and Modified manifold and then remote tuning. I also bought a Yank 2800 stall converter. This should go well with my RotoFab CAI, Bo White ported throttle body, Doug Thourley tri-y long tube headers, and Solo exhaust.

I thought the ss3 needed more converter?

Most people do run a 3800 stall. I chose the 2800 partly because I bought the converter form another member for a great price. I am not drag racing the car and putting on slicks to get it to hook up and trying to get the lowest et I can. I am going to be driving it on the street. The lower stall will also help keep the trans temp down. The SS3 cam power band starts at 3000. I am hoping the 2800 stall will get the car to start moving and then come into the power band and go instead of just lighting up the tires.

I ran SS3 with a 3200 CD before I went to the ~3800 I have now. It was easier to hook on a street tire (at the expense of 1/4 ET).

The SS1 is a great cam, by far one of the best for an L99. however, chances are you will end up getting a converter in the future for it. SS2, SS3 are also really good choices. Start a tire fund for the SS1 with a stock converter haha
