Transmission getting stuck in sport mode

Sometimes when I'm driving in town in Sport Mode my transmission freaks out on me. Its like the RPM stays at about 3k or so and wont come down even when I let off the gas. Granted I tend to do alot of hard take offs at stop signs just to show off a bit. Maybe i'm driving it too hard. But sometimes its scary...its like stuck and then pops out but then i'm braking and my engine revs up real quick. I have an Automatic (obviously) just curious if anyone else has had this problem and what you think it might be. Should I only use sport mode on the highway? It doesn't seem to happen in Drive.

Open your manual. It actually says not to do that.

There are more than a few folks who have seen this occur including myself. The conclusion I got from the other threads was that it was normal.

Since I have an 6M, I can't comment specifically on the L99 sport mode; however, I had an Acura that did this same sort of thing - after a high-rev takeoff it had a tendency to not get out of the gear when I thought it should.

The Acura would always get out of the lower gear eventually by itself, but I could make it happen sooner by taking the car out of sport mode.

As far as I can gather, it's normal...remember that in Sport mode you are actively instructing the car to hold gears for you and generally make acceleration more available.

If you don't like the behavior, put it in 'D' instead...that's why there's two modes...D is supposed to be the every day driving mode, 'S' is for "I'm Serious, when I hit the gas I mean NOW".

Sport mode will hold the gear longer. It is waiting for you to get on it again. I like it myself helps when eating Mustangs.

ok thanks everyone for your help. I just got back from tearing up the high road here in Branson at 125mph. It was awesome I'm just saying. No one was around. Just miles of unused highway. I put the competition mode on and spun out completely. I freakin love this car!!!

It is normal, the point of SPort Mode is to keep the RPMs higher. The more agressive you drive the more agressive the RPM/gearing is.

CT- Thanks for asking this question. It happened to me when coming home from the drag strip. I thought I jammed something up after my run. I better go finish the manual. I've had the car since June 1st
