As far as the OP's problem is concerned, it sounds as if the dealer has done what any dealer would do with a modified item that they had no part in. Think of it this way...if you went and bought a pair of pants at a department store, took them home and added stitching to them and the material gives way...why should the store cover your modification? That's a simplified example, but it is basically what you are doing to a car when you modify it...changing the specifications or how it operates. I know I'll get flamed for that last comment, but it IS true about modifications. GM should not have to warranty something that you have modified. I'm not saying cancel the warranty on your power windows for that supercharger you have bolted on...but YES your entire powertrain warranty should be considered gone. I do hope the OP gets his problem fixed to his satisfaction...but I think it will take him gaining an understanding of how to work with a dealer on a modified item. Dealing with a dealer when you modify is all about building a relationship and an understanding of their expectations. It is definitely a time when you ask first then do versus do then ask for forgiveness. Document your discussions if necessary. Most (and I know not all) dealers are pretty good people to work with. They aren't going to deny your powertrain warranty for a K&N filter (unless GM has told them they have to), but don't think they aren't smart enough to know that those extra oil bosses you've added to your engine probably go to a supercharger you pulled off before you brought the car in for an exploded clutch. If you walk into a dealership shop and treat the people there with respect, you will usually get the same thing. Sure there are dealers out there to scew you over (we've seen quite a few lately with camaro sales!), but most are just like you and I...trying to make a living. |

Your post supports what many of us are saying...the OP's problem is probably related to installer error. Thanks for helping clarify that this isn't a GM issue. Having someone like you without the OP's problems helps to clarify where the problem is stemming from. Thanks!

How the original post lead to the comment about "speaking and acting as though you're illiterate", the failure of the education system, and my being superior, is well, puzzling. Anyway, other posters have given some good advice about how to resolve his radio reception problem, and that’s what really matters. Not your or my opinions of what is right or wrong with people's attitudes. Any way Peace - Maybe.

Just because a dealership is affiliated with GM does NOT necessarily mean that they will do a good job. |

Their not voiding your warranty, they cant get coverage for you when aftermarket components affect factory installed components Get a second opinion from another GM service center. Try your buddies iPOD in your car see if their is a difference

When I asked a local dealership about tint, they recommended that I just take it down the street to the tint shop because it would be cheaper... He said "that's what we do anyway"...
So even if you get yours "installed at the dealer" this could mean they just have a 3rd party do it for them, then charge you a bit more. Same goes for the stripes... They usually have an outside source install them. |

Thanks for the Nano info Qik! Hopefully the OP can use that as ammo to get the radio (at least the iPod function) inspected/fixed under warranty

Maybe we have been typing it in to small of letters, because about 5 dealers have responded to this and people seem to be missing it.
DEALER CAN NOT COVER AN ALTERATION UNDER WARRANTY. Radio worked fine before tint. After tint radio messed up. Common sense would tell you that the tint is cause of problem. Dealer can not cover under warranty, because dealer won't get paid by GM for it. So what your asking is for the dealer to work for free. |
