If you just pull the bow tie off you will have 2 holes about 2" apart in the center of you trunk. Make sure if your replacing it with a "custom" bowtie that you do something to protect the trunk lid or your asking for rust problems. Not all replacement's have the guide pins.

Fishing line works great to remove the factory bow ties until you get to the center of the emblem. I used a plastic putty knife to ease the edges of the bow tie out to help with removal. Just be VERY CAREFUL while pulling the old bow tie off, the edges of it can and will scar/scratch your paint if its not done properly.

Here is the trunk with the bowtie removed. And also what I did with my bowtie.

I heated it up, then just pulled on it with my fingers and a little screw driver, careful not to touch the paint.

I removed them, disassembled them, painted them, put them back together, and clear coated them myself.

I know that this question is off subject but does anyone have a good way to remove the air bag decals on the visors? I got the drivers side off by gently peeling it from one corner but the passengers side is holding fast. I tried a hair dryer and it also softened up the vinyl cover so I stopped. These things are a wart on an otherwise fine car.

I have seen stickers designed to go over the factory sticker. They are vehicle specific, such as, 2010 Camaro, 2004 GTO, and so on.
After a quick search I came up empty, but I know I have seen them.
