No such thing as ethical consumption in our society, and surely there isn't any among oil companies lol

I switched to Shell Vpower Nitro+ and before I did that I was getting 14 MPG in the city. Now I get 18.2 on average. Also have a discount card where I have gotten as much as 50 cents off each gallon. Most of the time I get 10 cents off each gallon

I use Costco or QT, both top tier. No issues. I don't really care that he's a mechanic, as most often, any single person's opinion is not worth the paper to print it on. You're fine, and any top tier rated station would be ok in my book.

I use Shell VPower 93 almost exclusively. If you use their Fuel Rewards card, it's a minimum of $.05 discount per gallon. If you filled previously with 93 octane, it's a $.10 cent discount. Even more if you link the card to your credit cards and use them to pay. Definitely worth it. Otherwise I will use Mobil or Sunoco.

Yep, I'm on the Shell Fuel Rewards card too. Currently getting $.15 off per gallon of 93 octane.

Worked at a service station in high school that sold no-brand discount priced fuel. Often talked with different tanker delivery drivers. They all told me they deliver to some of the same national brand stations in that area (Texaco, Sunoco, Mobil). When it was a Mobil delivery the fuel picked up at the depot was the same except a small jug of "detergent" was poured in that compartment in the tanker truck ... magically turning it in to Mobil "Detergent" gasoline.

At the time I did a calculation of percentage of the "detergent" in that compartment and it was laughable. Since then, in the past 40+ years I've always used the cheapest priced gas for octane level my cars needed. I'm also an oil company stock holder in some of the national chain stations so I hope many continue to believe their commercials on their "superior" fuels ;-)

I use Shell 93 exclusively at home. If traveling, I have left stations if they didn't have 93 available.

and so a tanker truck driver is your path to reality.

Did you never notice when Formula One fuels costing hundreds of thousands dollars to be specifically developed for this engine, for this race, brought your race car to the finish line ahead of all others?

I worked in refineries and Dad delivered gas. All base gas is the same. Each brand has their own blend of additives.

I keep track of my fuel mileage since I'm OCD. I can't speak for other Costco's but ours on the north side of town, always delivers 2mpg lower than Sinclair or even Sams club. This isn't just one my SS. It's on all of the cars we've had since we moved here. Titan, Durango, 4th gen SS, fox mustang and Caravan. We stopped using Costco and most Chevron stations (same reason most are owned by Terribles). I have always had very good results with Chevron anywhere else.

What can I say Vegas just has to be different.
