My wife will only drive ours in relief duty on the hwy on long trips.

We drove straight thru from San Diego to Mobile (33 hrs, which includes 3 one hour breaks for meals and a micro nap). It was Jan. and very little to no traffic, especially in the West Texas desert in the middle of the night. So she took over in the desert from 11pm to 2am and there were basically no cars and speed limit is 80 or 85. I tried to sleep but all I kept seeing in my mind was Deer running out of the scrub. If you've ever been thru there in the winter you know how many dead Deer are all over the roadside. Needless to say I got zero sleep. Fast fwd to early afternoon east of Houston and she takes over again. This is a heavy, fast moving cut throat stretch from Houston to the Louisiana line. Of course we're both ready to be home yesterday and I assure her that the car will do whatever she want's it to do........ accelerate hard, brake fast, cut hard, get around other cars quick...... so after a few miles she starts to get aggressive and is driving the car likes it's capable of and I slept hard for 2 or 3 hrs. It's like the movie "My Cousin Vinnie" where he only gets a good nights sleep in prison during a riot.

I'm young guy and completely agree. It doesnt make much sense to get married, and then not get on track to pursue the same financial goals. For myself and my wife we dont have "his and hers" money or cars. She doesnt drive the Camaro since it is a manual, but in the end it is hers just as much as it is mine.

To those that said people split it up because of lawyers...anything acquired after marriage is typically "marital property" and as such is up for debate during a divorce. Having a seperate bank account alone does not protect that money or assets.

I'm not worried about my wife driving my Camaro. She handles the M6 with no problems at all. I'm a lot worried about her parking it.

Nail on the head, That is 98 percent of it for me. She can drive it for hours, but she loves cramping up into those tiny spots up front.

My only rules. She knows to warm the car for 30 sec when cold and that shell have to walk a little further when going to the stores

Liberation and independence...It's just as you stated, I would buy my toys and she can buy hers...50% on the household budget and the remainder goes in my mad money account...Can't be questioned on how the other spends or saves their money...

I bet some of the internet macho man who posted here would rather lose their left nut than have their wife see what they wrote in here.

My wife has no interest in driving my Camaro, nor being a passenger in it... to claustrophobic to her. She likes being in a SUV.

Eh, my wife and I have our separate accounts for our whatever money / personal bills. That said, we have joint accounts that we pay our joint bills out of, and use for stuff for us (home improvements, vacations, savings whatever)

As far as driving the car, my wife can but doesn't like to. She doesn't have anywhere to rest her arms when she's driving. She drives her Miata instead.

No awesome story to tell. She got home today and told me it was uncomfortable and it was hard to hold her speed.

She did set a new personal best for my car. I think this experiment proves I have a heavy foot if nothing else. My norm is 17.5 ish, she got right under 23.

I prefer the smiles per gallon personally.
