I have no specific clue how you brought this on yourself. It could be the way you look, the way your car looks, the way you drive, your driving record, the loud stereo... The way you interact with them when they pull you. That circulates among the LEOs. That is what that is.

Back on topic.
As far as idiot drivers go, they have no specific targets. Everyone is a target. They are more important than anyone else in the world and they are out to prove it. If they can save one second by cutting someone off they do it. The thought never enters their mind that they have to do this 60 times to save one minute. Now if one minute a day making better time in traffic means something to them I would advise them to get out of bed five minutes earlier than they do and just get in line. But that somehow doesn't make it to their consciousness so I just try to stay out of the way. The really cool part, and I have seen this many times, is they will eventually take themselves out. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but sooner instead of later, it will happen. People with a bit more common sense make it happen later, and for people with a lot of common sense it can take years, if ever. Now one guy, one time, you never know. Maybe he is rushing to the hospital with blood spurting from an artery or a wife in labor. Give them a break. But the idiots who put themselves into this situation almost every time they drive, they get no sympathy from me. Cool story: So I am leaving the city one afternoon on the expressway. Same drive everyday. Bumper to bumper. I spot a vehicle that must have been 30-40 lengths back. Driving lights behind the grill aimed at rear view mirrors. And I think, "Yeah, that will get everyone out of your way." As we get farther from the city traffic gradually loosens up and we pick up speed. The dude is gaining on me. Well, there are still all these entrances and exits and I have a ways to go so I stick to the left lane and maintain my interval. Every time there is an exit he moves to the center lane, passes another car, the entrance comes, he jumps back into the left. Now I drive this route every day, so I know the next interchange is convoluted so the entrance is ~1/4 mile past the exit. So people have a chance to jump to the right lane for a few seconds. By now we are tripping along at 70 in a 55, I'm still in the left maintaining my interval. He winds up right behind me as we approach this exchange. Like a foot off my bumper (not really, but you know what I mean). So I wait for the exact right moment when the right opens up, the center lane lightens up, everyone stays left because when we get to the entrance there will be a sh$tload of traffic coming on. I completely and suddenly lift my foot off the throttle. The guy has no choice but to smack the brakes. At least a dozen cars that he had passed jump to the center lane without missing a beat and fly by us moving right back into the left lane. By the time this ahole had a break to move right the traffic was entering. As he pulled up next to me I acted like I must have dropped a cigarette in my lap. Four men in black suits. By then I had found the imaginary cigarette and sped back up while he disappeared in the swarm. Never did see that guy again. ![]() Moral of the story. Get in line, relax, you will get there the same as everybody else.

I purposely leave WAY early to get to work, just to avoid as many asshats as I possibly can in the mornings. On the way home, I don't have much choice but to drive as defensively (or aggressively) as needed to stay out of/get out of their way.

Ive lived in Iowa, Chicago, Louisville KY, St Louis MO, and have to say, that Iowa was the worst (also documented by news) - Louisville was the best, with San Diego a close second.

OMG - I-4! I have a custom show car built by Chip Foose. Was driving I-4 in the Orlando area in stop and go traffic. I literally was at a dead stop and had a guy in a Dodge SUV run up my back end. Hit so hard he pushed me into the car in front of me. (Witness said he was texting) When we got out, he yelled that he did not have time for this and then had the nerve to say, well its just a car why was I so upset! Urge to kill... and they wonder why there are incidents of road rage!
The guy refused to provide any information so my passenger started taking pictures of him and his vehicle and license plate. He was furious! Police arrived and escorted him off. Oh, and the police officer that showed up told me that he did not know how I had kept my cool.

And not only are California drivers abysmally poor, one out of three have no insurance. I suspect that a pretty sizable number also have no license (LAPD even gives "special privilege" to illegals who are caught driving, privileges that do not apply to licensed, legal citizens)... but no matter who plows into you, right away, you have a one in three chance that he's not insured!

Chattanooga, Atlanta, Orlando, West Palm Beach to Miami all suck. I can't tell you how many times I've wished I was driving my old beat up F350 just so I could bounce their a__ when they cut me off.
Used to live in Orlando and can't tell you how many times some Disney crazed/glazed tourist almost put me in the ditch on the 528 from the airport to Disney World. Any time you get on I4, it's like playing Russian Roulette, especially around the Fairbanks curve. It's not safe in dry weather, much less when it's been raining. I moved to a small city off I95 and I was on my way back from WPB a couple weeks ago, pouring rain, and a gal in an Audi decided she was going to squeeze in front of me. The only reason she did was because I like my car too much and hit the brakes. Karma kicked in a few miles down the road though. She was off to the side in some trees and I just rolled on by. Bottom line, I don't think muscle cars are targeted ... there's just a lot of stupidity out there and, unfortunately, we get involved. Now, I admit, I do drive a little aggressively (spirited) but I'll yield to the idiots most every time. I guess that's what defensive driving is supposed to be about.
