The other thing that bugs me is they went through the trouble of telling us that the HUD is 18 months away. So, now I have to decide if I can WAIT that long to get it. If they didn't SAY anything about it then I would have bought one sooner rather than waiting for the options I want to be available!
Do you think it will be possible to get it factory installed?

Im not sure how complicated of a gadget it is, so i dont know.

I'm reeeal simple...

-422HP Ls3 Camaro SS
-6 speed manual transmission mounted on the floor
-Black on black

I don't need bluetooth, XM, nav, halos or amb. lighting. And the audio system I plan on installing will most certainly crush the Boston Acoustics setup offered.

Yes, Saint....I agree.

Let's see what happens with this, though...

I am happy with the car and will buy it. But if the goodies I want come out in a year, i will not buy upon release, I will wait for them to be added.

I am happy for the most part, however, I am a little concerned about the price of the RS package.

Also, I want to know if the regular headlights are projectors, or if they are just halogen reflectors.

I plan on getting new wheels anyways, so if the regular headlights are projectors, then I can get my SS without the RS package, not blow the money for the wheels, then put a 300.00 aftermarket HID kit in the headlights, and buy my own wheels.

But well see. Hopefully everything will work out, I also agree with most of you why the HUD is not already in the car...stupid mistake if you ask me.

The RS Package is one that I can't imagine what the price is going to be either.

I think it's been listed or said that the non-HID headlights are Halogen.

I don't think it was a mistake on their part, if it was a 'mistake' at all.
I'm finding the longer I pay attention to this concept to production stuff, that there's A LOT going on behind the scenes none of us will ever know about...it's crazy.

I agree with you 100% but unfortunately most,if not all Auto manufacturers have bought into the "options package"idea of choosing options.I never liked it myself, and i think it caters more to those who have alot of $$$ to spend as opposed to those who are more ethical in their option decisions.

I for one would like to be able to have the SS appearance package, but with a V6 and a 6spd transmission...but unfortunately that would never happenAnd you would think given the price of gas and a higher insurance premium for a V8 powered car,and the condition of the economy that it would be more ethical to offer such an option

Option packages are a fact of life.

Period.

I don't like it.

You don't like it.

But if you want cars (and trucks) to be reasonably priced, this is how it will be.

We offered over 15 million build combinations in the 1997 model year on a Camaro -- to build less than 75 thousand cars.

The result -- a horrible number of part numbers to build cars that sat on dealer lots (Wait -- this car has power windows and door locks -- why doesn't it have cruise control!!?!?!?!?).....

To get the cost out of the car -- and to simplify build -- and to reduce piece costs --- we have to package things. (you think the Camaro's bad? Go look at how Honda packages their cars!)....

So - you want halo lights but don't want the 20 inch wheels? I think you can find lots of takers for the 20 inch wheels when you decide to put custom wheels on the car -- and if you order 21 inch wheels from GM, the dealer will give you credit for the 20s.........

I understand your frustration -- but I don't ever see any manufacturer getting away from this.

Let me ask you this: Would you be willing to make a decision to increase the base price of the car by over $500 to $1,000 in order to allow everyone to free-flow their options????

And what might that base price be?

I totally understand that reasoning when it comes to cars sold by the dealer. But if you order the car, you should be able to be to have more options on what you want and don't want on your car. I ordered my last car and I am very happy that I did. I have yet to see a car exactly like my wife's Cobalt. I will be doing the same with my Camaro when the time comes.

If I were going to buy a silverado or tahoe then no I would not be willing to give away that 1k because (its just another ride)

I know I am preaching to the choir when I tell you this, but I may be willing to do that with THIS car....I am also fully aware that I(we) are in the minority in this. If GM does sell 100,000 next year...maybe only 5k-10k are enthusiasts, and you guys have to make a living right? My fear in all this is the SS/RS package might be out of reach, and thats a tough one to swallow. I grew up around this car, each generation has been in my family, but I have never had my hands on one...the SS has the performance I want and the RS package offers all the beauty I want..haha so it is a perfect match if I can afford it. I am an ethusiast, but I also don't make 6 digits a year.

I know in a perfect world you would be able to facilitate people who live and breathe camaro, and it is a business. I guess this is an outlet for us to vent, hah..don't take this by any means as my way of being disappointed in this product. This vehicle DROPS jaws just from video and pictures, I can't even imagine how I will feel when I see it in person or actually sit behind the wheel.

The HUD not being available till December does suck though...again with that said, you guys did a GREAT job.
