OMGosh. yeah I am a real law breaker. Half the cars in the state have no front plate. The cops could write tickets all day long. I have no front plate on any of my other 4 cars & never stopped even once.

Part of the reason I got stopped so many times is because there were hardly no Camaro's on the road yet so I know my car was noticed. I even had a local cop stop me on a residential street, he told me that I may have rolled through a stop sign. Then he started laughing and said he just wanted to check out my car. He was a good guy & funny, he didn't say anything about no front plate.

So bolt up the Jac-Fab.

From what I heard the #1 reason requiring someone in a two plate state to have both plates on the vehicle is so you aren't using the 2nd plate on another vehicle.

You may laugh at the thought, but I have seen it. I have seen people take the plate off one car and put it on another car. Then they move the car with no plate and back it into a parking spot close to a building or a fence.

What goes on in their mind to have two cars and switch plates between them, well, let your imagination run wild with that thought.

I can understand the sentiments of the OP. I don't think anyone's got a target on their car. It's the times we live in and I have just learned to accept that there are stupid people out there. As the saying goes, "You can't fix stupid". I feel that there are folks that think they are the only ones that are driving on the planet so they do whatever they want to do. Then, there are those that feel that they can multi-task while driving and still be a safe driver. These are not the majority of drivers but there are enough of them out there that we experience their selfishness and recklessness more often than not. I was born and raised in So Cal and still live here. Love it here but I feel like the drivers have gotten steadily worse over the decades.

I'm fairly sure NY drivers are among the worst out there. On our highways you need to go 75 to 80 mph to keep up with the traffic flow (state speed limit 55). If you go 60 you WILL be subject to horns, dirty looks, flipped off, and road rage. Drive defensive and record everything. It's every man for himself out there.

From what I've been told by law enforcement friends, the biggest 'reason' (state's justification) for two plates is so law enforcement can see the plates of on coming vehicles.

More so with the cameras. Here comes a ticket in the mail.

Fortunately, in our village they dumped all that years ago. The companies mailing the tickets were making more money than the village. And pissing people off. And I don't mean ricers, but mom and dad's who are paying taxes.

When I went to school in Kansas City a friend refereed to my stop sign rolls as a "Chicago stop" I still do that as when you are slow enough and cen see in every direction that it is safe to procede, why not prevent all the wear and tear and fuel to just keep going?

I am probably repeating myself but it has been a few years since I told this story.
I am coming to a 4-way stop on the side streets. I spot a girl in a Monte Carlo coming from the right. So, to be safe, I come to a complete stop. She looks me right in the eyes and rolls though, making a right hand turn. So she is in front of me. And my brain said, "You should have been ahead of her." So I whack the throttle, pull up on the left side of her, she is looking in her mirror trying to figure out where I went, forgets to unwind the wheel and bounces over a curb into someone's front yard. I laughed so hard I could barely see. I had to pull over to clean the tears out of my eyes. My friend opened the passenger door and rolled out the door. Now she is in the rearview, standing next to her car, scratching her head and the homeowner walks out the front door.
I thought I was going to die running out of breath.
