Oil and Tires

I have a couple of questions. First off is should I get my oil changed before putting the car away for the winter or wait until I bring it out in the spring? Unfortunately I only put 1800 miles on it this summer. Second question is when should I replace the Trofeos?? Is there a recommended tread depth? I have close to 7000 miles of road use on then now and they look pretty good to me. Thanks in advance for any insight.

The trofeos are probably dry at this point - I think that you may want to replace those before taking it out on a track, or any serious spirited driving

These tires are like new date code in 1017, you will not be disappointed!

I always store cars with clean oil in them. I would re-evaluate the tires in the spring. No sense changing them if your going to store the car all winter.

Excellent advice. I would think at 7000 miles, they are pretty well done anyway. I would change the oil before storing. FYI, we are entitled to up to 4 oil changes in the first 2 years of service. Had mine done over the summer with a whopping 750 miles on her.

See, I always store with the old oil and change it first thing in the spring.

I understand the arguments for both sides, I just feel like with the huge weather spikes and changes, I want to minimize the risk of moisture build up.

Last year I changed the oil before storing the car. This year, I'm not. I'll wait til spring. I may even use the oil that's in it next year as well. With the oil being sooooooooooooo much better then it was even 10 years ago, I just don't see the need to change it as much as some of you die-hard oil changing guys.

Regardless you should at least change the oil once a year. That's when my 68 and Monte Carlo get their annual oil change.
