old school chevy rodder
|
I can see the chuckle heads with their v-6 getting in a uproar but its true, if you want v-8 sound get a v-8 if your going to go blower or turbo your choices are limited and the gain also.....and if your going that route most spend 7 grand for a good v-8 blower then install and tune so ten grand and if your thinking so I can blow a v-8 away ..not so much..... so My listening to the OP is to be gentle and more responsive to his pocket book , and BTW this is not my first gen 5 and not my first engine either..... If your going to mod it costs a lot, and the more you do the more you may want, sometimes its easier to upgrade, and BTW I had a deposit of a grand on zl1, they did not get crystal red with their limited allotment so I took it back and went to what I wanted, and some day I will have one I want , But I will buy used cheaper and not let my baby go either.
SO many invest so much to let them go.....been there done that, old chevy motor head here lost enough selling and made some too, now I want more modern with all its costs, yet some may not anticipate that yes some day they will have that gleem in their eye.....and loose their shorts trading in or selling some times its experience that matters. And so does money so take your "You think your better than me and shove it". Best advice some exhaust and CAI and then mods to maintain what you have for a v-6 the norm, things to personalize the looks of the car ...good. Trying to polish a ____ not so much. We are gifted with what we have, making the most of it is not so easy for some, and expectations should be realistic. I remember the first FI for the v-6 on here, RX, I remember the other parts others have put on and the results, and the prior heads on the v-6 engine before this one which could have headers......and the posts of those who have had problems................Its the first post they have to read about 5000 old posts to know WTF is up, as dreams are like opinions and _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ every one has one...... AT least its not a first post of hey blew my motor what a POS I just slapped a blower on my lS with no tune and its all chevys fault........

Yes, a 6 under boost will have a lower ceiling than an 8 and will likely shorten its lifespan. This is the case with any engine on boost. The supercharger kit I mentioned is around 6k with tune included. Yes, you will be able to surprise some stock or bolt on V8’s with it. If your goal is to be the fastest, you best be rich because there is always going to be someone with more. For the rest of us, it’s not as critical. Sure you can spend the extra and get an 8 or 2x the cost of a base 6 and get a ZL1. Not always feasible. Nobody retains resale value or value on mods no matter the platform. In short, There is nothing wrong with modifying a V6 regardless of what “chuckleheads” say. Just be aware of the costs involved and the limitations of the platform and temper expectations accordingly. It can be plenty rewarding and unique all at the same time.

lol.i love how some of you ss guys look down on the v6 ,when every ss owner opted for the slower camaro too.why not go ZL1,heck why not go real chevy v8 power and get ya a vette. All that ego, sounds like somebody is compensating for coming up short elsewhere. And obviously not that bright either. i didnt ask should i have gotten the V8.i asked for experiences upgrading the 2015 V6 . i want a supercharged v6 camaro, just my preference. my last ride was 2009 toyota tacoma v6 that i supercharged. and a nice aggressive muscle car rumble is easily obtainable in these v6 ,look up some videos and see for yourselves.

Did you seriously just post a video that shows the crap ass RX Supercharger setup? The same idiots that can't even get a V6 Camaro into the low 12's after 7 years of screwing owners out of money?

I did OP, 2012 45th Anniversary RS. Sold it, bought a 2013 2SS 1LE. Kept it and bought a 16 vette. And you know what? The 1LE now collects dust because it’s damn near undriveable after driving the vette. So take that SS snobs. Seriously though everyone, why knock the guy? Granted, he’d get lots more info in the V6 section, but why make jokes? He’s asking a serious question.

I had the Flowmaster American Thunder and K&N cold air intake when I had my V6. Both sounded great and I would highly recommend them.

A guy who worked for me had a gen4 with a v6, flowmasters and a cai on it. It actually sounded pretty cool - nothing like the fart can you v8 toters claim it sounds like. Now, I know the gen4 did not have the same engine and not nearly as much hp but our gen5 v6's are nothing to sneeze at on the highway. Get over yourselves.
