Well the car is back in the shop for some minor adjustments. Something is not quite right in the tune because I am beginning to notice some slight stutter/hesitation at times when I pop it a little bit to pass a car, etc. It doesn't seem to happen so much when I nail it, but only when I go 1/2 or so throttle. It's not bog. I already learned that the Procharger likes the higher RPM range and with switching from 4.11 to 3.70 gears the rpm band has changed significantly through the gears so I am having to relearn how far to down shift when I want to blow a mustang or whatever off the road.

Also the left rear tire has a slow leak at the valve stem base. I am finding that not everyone will work on a wheel with bead locks. My son works at Discount Tire and they wont touch them, so it is back to the shop that mounted the tires.

The are minor inconveniences compared to some of the issues you guys are dealing with, but I intend to keep this thread alive until I finally get it to the track, then I will let it die, unless of course you guys think I should close this one and just open another thread for the track times?

Well the stutter/hesitation issue was not the tune. The Camaro has 2 broken rocker arm trunnions. It was a upgraded set but 2 have failed. It caused severe valve float on those 2 cylinders hammering the valve tips. One rocker was sticking the valve open.

So right now the shop will install new trunnions and a fresh set of valve springs. Additionally, the oil pan will be removed to clean out any remaining needle bearings.

Since we will be completing a tear down to the heads, I am going to upgrade to a set of Brodix 6 bolt heads. Here is a write up about them:

The BP BR 3 is a 100 % CNC ported head that features a 280 cc intake port that flows over 363 cfm! Glad to hear the damage was not worse! I had a lifter scare last year luckily I caught it in time. I have been going back and forth about upgrading to CHE bronze trunnions over the stockers. All the other aftermarket options, i.e. comp cam, seem to have more issues than the stockers.

Those heads seem like a great upgrade!

My cousin bought fancy heads on his agp car and a month later the stock bottom end let go and destroyed them.

My shop believes this is the best heads you can get for the LS3. Brodix has been in business for 50 years and they do all of the machine work in house, nothing is subbed out.

I have the CHE and love them... great upgrade...

I will get to the time line but the first thing I want to know is what did those 775 ponies feel like the first time you buried the accelerator to the floor?????


I have felt the hesitation/stall for several weeks but I did not act on it. Funny thing is there was no unusual noise issues you would expect to hear with this sort of failure. I was going out of town for a week so I decided to leave the car with G-Force to check it out thinking there would be an issue with the tune but instead I had the two broken rocker arm trunnions. I doubt there is anything wrong with my current heads but once again, with a look to the future and higher boost pressures with an LSX block, I will need the 6 bolt heads.
