Not to sound dumb but what is this "red key" that you guys are talking about for the Boss 302 Leguna Seca Model? I don't remember reading about this at all when I read about both models in C&D. I was considering a Boss 302 in Yellow Blaze w/ Black Stripes but if this Leguna Seca is gonig to be that much better I might go for the Silver w/ Red.

Well we don't know anything concrete on the "red key" from Ford yet.

But what it is likely to be is a key that unlocks a different tune for the car when used. The speculation is that the tune, while being a more aggressive tune(more hp/tq), will also raise the rev limiter over the stock tune.

this "red key" is it going to come with the car? or be bought through ford parts? or is it aftermarket? assuming it will exist.

From what I understand is you might have to buy the key after the purchase of the car, as in after you sign the papers.

I think it falls into the category of a "mod" that can't be purchased at the time of the sale of the vehicle.

Not positive on that though. Like I said Ford has been pretty mum on the red key so far.

And it is pretty much confirmed it exists. Jay Leno about let the beans slip until a Ford rep basically made it clear they were not talking about the Red Key yet. Leno appears to know at least partly what the red key does.

And just so I am clear, the "red key' will only be available to the Leguna Spec and not the standard Boss 302 correct?

It is what has been speculated. We won't really know till Ford releases info on the red key though.

Yeah I am very inpressed with the Ford Boss 302 and Leguna Seca. It is a model that the Camaro will never have a competitor for. Gosh it has taken GM long enough to get us a Z28 photo nevermind the actual car. I was very dissapointed to learn that the Z28 would not debut in Detroit is starting to make me think a Summer 2011 release will never happen. God knows it will get delayed for months like the Camaro did when it wa first in production.

I like this Boss even more than the GT500. It looks more exclusive and just bad@ss. I was hoping Gm would give us some more info on a Z28 release but by this March if there is no signs of a Z28 release for Summer 2011 I think I may have a Leguna Seca in my garage to wash and drive for the weekend! Sick of waiting for a car that shouldn't take this long to produce. It was simple for GM stiffen up and beef up that suspension to make it more like a sports car and not a luxury liner, and go over to the CTS-V parts bin and start picking things to put in the Z28. Maybe bump up the HP for the Z28 too. It really isn't rocket science, they should've already had some idea of what to do with it while developing the V6 and SS!

I believe the "Red Key" also unlocks the speed limiter and unleashes the Laguna seca's 180mph potential. The LS comes with a 180mph speedometer, wile the Regular Boss comes with the 160mph speedometer.

The Boss will be very attainable by regular people, the price is set to be between the GT and GT500. The biggest problem i see is its Low production numbers, Between 3500 Boss and 500 LS models produce a year. i see dealers asking crazy prices for this car.

Already talked to 3 Ford dealers I do transmission work for.

On a Boss 302 LS one wanted $1500 over invoice, the other wanted $1000 over invoice, and the last one wanted a nickel over invoice. I wasn't too concerned about that. And the one that wanted only a nickel said that if they weren't so limited on the LS I could've had it at invoice, which he did for me on my bro's 05 Stang when they first came out and they wanted between $2500-$5k on the first GT's.

And a regular Boss 302 the first 2 dealers said a nickel over invoice and the last one said invoice!

^That's only 1,000 less then GT500's yearly production and of course there will always be dealers wanting adm but the good dealer's that advertise and are sponsored members on forums are always at or below msrp.

idk if anyone had said this yet but isnt the 2012 camaro getting a 5.5 or 5.8L engine thats DI or maybe thats 2013 but i read somewhere that its getting a smaller engine to get better gas mileage but more power since its DI so maybe this camaro can compare to the Boss
