You all say that the Camaro will destroy the Z?
The z is shorter, lighter and faster than before.
Not to mention it's handeling has improved!
+ it's leaner figure compared to the bulky Camaro.
But don't get me wrong the Camaro is a beast with it's V8.
Remember the Z is only a V6 and it's a threat to all Camaro drivers!
I just hope that GM doesn't disappoint me as usual with their crap parts and poor engineering.:(
That is my only concern as well...I have owned Camaros in the past, and lets just say that while they looked cool and ran hard....the quality and fit and finish left a lot to be desired.

At this point I am buying either an Infiniti G37 Sport (41K) or a Camaro SS, just under 40K.

Test drives will give me the answers I need.

"bulky Camaro" That's a new one.

And rest assured, the 5th Gen., will blow everyone away when it comes to quality.

Apparently you haven't noticed, GM's quality has gone up sharply in the last several years. This isn't my opinion, it's been stated by numerous sources such as consumer reports, jd power, the auto mags, etc.
Hmm apparently I havent, if GM's quality has gone up SHARPLY in the last serveral years why have they filed for bankruptcy? I understand it's a recession and all but shouldn't they be climbing up instead of tumbling down?
Don't get me wrong, I didn't come here to flame on GM and stuff. My dad and I restored a 69 camaro just before winter hit and it's a great car!

I think if you're pitting the SS against the G37...you're going to have your answer within seconds of those test drives.

Those are somewhat unrelated scenarios...but methinks you need to visit a couple GM dealerships. Malibu, G8, CTS, Traverse, Silverado + friends, Corvette, Impala, Vue, Aura, G6...and a few others come to mind. These cars may just blow you away if your doubting their quality.

Well... If you just want a DD I think the G37s is great.
My sister actually has one in manual.
I didn't expect a luxury car to be that fun.
Quality wise it's great.
It's pretty spacious too...
If I didn't care about daily driving I would settle for the Camaro easily.

They didn't file bankruptcy.

GM had the least worst sales decline of all the major companies.

Public opinion is hard to change. People are stuck in their ways and refuse to believe the facts. Just like it took Americans a long time to accept the foreign companies, it will take some time for the American companies to regain the respect of the American public. The quality is there. It's been well documented.

The only cars I'll agree with you on quality is Corvette and CTS for sure.

Im puting the Queen on Troll-Watch.

That being said the Camaro isnt 'bulky'. Ill bet you've never seen it.

Second... its 20 lbs lighter. A number which will likely be made up by driver weight.

Third.... V6 doesnt really mean much anymore in this day and age, if you want to get really specific my buddies 2.0L mini cooper will blow the doors off the Z.

Forth, my Girlfriend has a Z. the Quality of parts is EMBARASSING. Its amazing that made it off the line....

and Finally, the number 1# factor in comparison should be $$, and im not sure if you've priced a 370z recently, but Nissan is RIPPING PEOPLE OFF.

Want Leather and the Rev-matching manual?? think 37.5K+++

Try the same thing with this pair's predecessors of 1970 or so and you'll find yourself in a bit of a wrestling match. Ain't progress wonderful? Maybe yes, and maybe sometimes it's fun to wrestle."

I think GM is turning the corner in the "quality dept.".

The new Malibu is a huge improvement, and the 2010 LaCrosse looks to be another success. And the Camaro - I haven't sat in anything other than the Concept, but I'd bet my bottom dollar, based on Scott's comments alone, that the quality, etc., will be exceptional.

It won't happen over night, but it's happening.

Well aren't you just the brightest lightbulb on the planet! You can discuss it until the universe ends, the truth will be when you can actually drive both and evaluate them, all this "discussion" and "pointless bench racing" is just that, the cars will be what they are and perform the way they will.

Hmmmm nope I don't think it's embarassing and yes I've seen the Camaro.
As for your ripping people off, I agree.
It's real gay that they only allow navi on the touring trim.
So if you want navi you shell out 5g's already...
lol...

Well normally id agree with you... but your comments on GM quality of materials makes it hard to believe that you really dissagree with nearly every review of the Z which noted its 'poor interior quality'
