Mine is very slightly over 1" - want to see if that is correct.

Here's how much space I have with mine. I thought I had a tape measure in the glove box but apparently not, so I used the next most common thing every Camaro owner has...the keyfob! With the keyfob laying flat, it will slide in between the gasket on the core support and the intake with maybe 1/16" - 1/8" clearance. Not a lot of extra space but it certainly isn't so snug its catching on anything. This is pretty much the same amount of spacing I've had on all of the umpteen prototype intakes that have been on my car too.

I'll eventually be painting mine. I only plan to paint the top piece and leave the lower filter housing and tube alone. Someone that recently installed theirs should be able to confirm but I'm pretty sure the section of the tube where the MAF sensor goes is also wrapped with an adhesive heat pad. I don't think you can paint that.

I have some feedback in my journal - link below.

in a nutshell:

Didn't particularly like the installation.

Love the look.

Love the sound.

and I know I'm gonna love the performance once I have finished the relearn process.

great thanks, then I know I have more than enough as I think my gap is bigger. I was just worried I wasn't going to get enough air flow in.

thanks again for your help Shannon.

has anyone used the red oil yet? does it look really red or more pink? I may have to use the dye method to get the pink I want.

Not sure if these are the right colors but they have this on their site:

You won't be able to wait my friend as I thought I'd wait until the next day as well. That thought lasted all of five minutes and I was on it. Of course I delayed actually driving it until today and I've been in the car all day. I'm really enjoying this!
I actually did wait until this morning, but It's on now. I took it for a quick drive and looked down and the check engine light came on... I forgot to plug the MAF cable in. It's on now so hopefully the CEL goes away soon. I can't believe the difference that this intake made. You can definitely get that seat of the pants surprise when you step on the pedal. It made my exhaust sound better too. I've only had the MRT v1.0 on for a few days, but now it has less drone and more growl to it. It really sounds like a performance car now. The MRT exhaust and this intake are both purchases I'm glad I made. I haven't taken any pics yet... Maybe tomorrow. I'll attempt a video too.

Yeah, there were a few times where we forgot to plug the MAF back in while swapping out prototype intakes. Seems like the V6 doesn't really care much other than to throw the CEL up on the dash. The car will still run. If you tried that with the V8, it would just stumble and die.

Yeah... it still ran like a raped ape when I stepped on it. The CEL was the only indication that it wasn't plugged in.

Good reference material with the fob! I tried it and I have the same. I can get my fingers in the openiing up the 2nd knuckle (middle) and that's it. Good opening as far as I'm concerned!
