I posted a thread about this is as well, seems many people are having the same problem, I made a comment to my dealer about it, his suggestion was to let the car break in a little bit more and if I still had the problem, to take it in. I'm planning on upgrading to an MGW shifter in the spring, but I'm not sure if the notchiness is the lousy stock shifter or something withing the tranny itself

Here's the link to the thread anyways http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=97186

I've had mine in 3 times for other issues and complained about 3rd, and sometimes 2nd gear notchy shifting. They told me all 3 times, could not duplicate! The 3rd time they said it was the Hurst aftermarket shifter but I didn't have it the first 2 times. I installed the Hurst to see if it would improve it, of course it didn't! They will only fix it if something breaks. This problem they concider just the way these tremecs are! Some are better than others. I have 8000 miles on and still waiting for the trans to smooth out. I too have noticed that some days are better than others and definatly better when the trans is warm. My 3rd gear is at it's best behavior at around 3500-5000 rpms, lower or higher and it is notchy! I tried Mobil 1 syn in the trans but it actually got worse! I went back to the stock GM fluid. I've heard mixed results on Royal Purple and Amsoil so I'm afraid of trying either!

It was notchy getting into 2nd and gears seemed to clip when going 2-3 when I first got it, at 8k miles now and put in Mobil 1 syn ATF and it's still the same. Even grinds 50% of the time when below 50 outside on 2-3 shifts. Brought it to the dealer at 4k and complained said it was operating as designed. Put in MGW shifter, still the same problem. First dealer was out in VA, moving to CA soon so I'll try dealerships out there.

i think it's ridiculous. a 40,000 dollar car and we are all having this problem. makes me sick, really disappointed in some of the issues that these cars are having.

shouldn't be

Bringing my car in tomorrow morning for the 2-3 gear grind, service manager said they will most likey need to open up the tranny, probably just telling me what I want to hear. We'll see tomorrow. Just don't get it, I save up years for this car, brand spanking new and we get these tranny problems from mile 1 and it's like pulling teeth to get it fixed.
