If you do a cam get rid of the lifters... however they do make a mild, lifter friendly VVT cam.
The lifters w/ the stock cam also run this risk...
Thats tha type of cam im gettin wen i get my car done.

Poo Poo on the stock lifters. Although mine did make ik about 8k hard miles before they crapped out. You just never know. If you are going to go in the range of 550+ rwhp change them out. It will cost you doublt to do it later. Go ahead, ask me how I know!

My Maggie, with meth, no BAP ,3.4 pulley, LT's and a CAI made 550/550 @ the wheels and runs, well it use to run 10.55's. Its stuck in park right now so it doesn't run anything. Should be on its feet this wk!

Yeah, Its done. Just waitng on a small trans part and then on to the dyno. It should have been done Friday but here in Connecticut we had some bad weather that screwed up the overnight deliveries. I'm hoping Monday afternoon to hear some numbers.

As for a cam on the L99's. From my research its pretty pricey. You can keep the VVT but the lifters have to go. And I think you need to pull the heads for that. Not sure. Someone that knows will chime in. It has to be at least a few grand to do a VVT cam and more near 5k ish to do an LS3 swap. At least here in CT it is. I'm sure its cheaper in some other locations.

Hey, at least you are doing your due dilligence and figuring all this stuff out. We'll be asking you for info pretty soon. Kudos on that!

Honestly, especially if you aren't gonna drag race the snot out of the car. Any of the blowers will get you where you want. Just get one with an cai and some LT's be done. They all will get you around or slightly above 500 rwhp and that more than enough on the street. Unless you want to get over 600 rwhp don't start swapping cams etc. That will double or tripple your budget quickly. And on top of that you'll need more $$ because at that level other parts will break. Maybe a trans part, axles, etc. Its only a matter of time. At 500 rwhp you will have a fun car, that will still be gentle on the rest of the components. Remember you have to pay to play. And you're still in school. Unless you graduate and start making 7 figures, do it smart. Start saving for a house and retirement.
Even a blower, with a cai and Lt's, installed and tunned is about 11k. Give or take a couple bucks. Thats a big chunk for a college grad. But its your money. You are welcome to spend as you see fit. Sorry for the life lesson, I really just wanted to talk about blowers!

You've got one of the Sweetest cars out there, but it's an LS3... Same setup but subtract 50hp and you're in there. Check out the Mast Motorsports Website if you want specs and details on VVT cams... They were first to market w/ these...
