I actually considered getting a GT before i got mine and even a 370Z. But the nissan was way over priced for me and the stang, well let me be quite honest its butt ugly to me. I dont see my self driving something i dont like and hating my life over it so i went with the 5th gen and the rest is history...

Of course they are just talking about the V8s and not the V6 (or they don't know). One of the many reasons I chose the LT over the SS was because of the DI. It is the wave of the future and I want to learn as much about modding it before the V8 version comes out.

No Mustang here. Personnal preference and never liked Fords. I have 28 years of Camaros under my belt, never even consider the mustang. As far as who's faster in the v6, it doesn't matter on the street in traffic, same for a v8. Only thing it's for is EGO and BRAGGING RIGHTS.

I have to admit, that sounds like a nice mustang for the money...very good! But I'm also guessing that car had the higher gearing right? That would make it no faster, and probably slower than a V6 Camaro. Of course thats before modding.

You are going to have to decide for yourself....looks or performance?? Which is more important to you? For me...looks is just as, and probably a bit more important, and since the V6 has a good amount of performance and great looks it was my choice! Now if the V6 had came with "just" 250 or whatever horses like many V6ers I may have waited on an SS. If it wasn't for all that weight these V6 camaros would be absolute screamers, but as they sit they are still quick and fun to drive, and even better once you start adding your own touch whether its visual or performance mods.

To me, both the Camaro and Mustang are great cars, so good luck with your decision and hopefully you never have to look back with a lot of regret!

Imagine yourself in both cars, and then the other car pulling up beside you....at that moment would you be thinking or :(

I picked looks when I got mine. I was going with either the Camaro or an Evo X. Sure the Evo is overall the better car, I would still choose my Camaro. I love her so. And if performance is such a big deal, wait til the warranty runs out and then drop in a bigger motor lol. I plan on doing that when mine is up. Sure 312hp is great but I need more.

since track performance is really not your cup of tea(hence the v6 decision)camaro looks way cooler than the mustang...and you can always mod it later(as some member have done here) to get quick 1/4mile #s.

Best advice
I always wanted a camaro and I got mine. The stang is definitly a better performer and sure it looks good and not as great as the camaro, but that new body style already has GREAT looking body kits to make it unique while the camaro only has a few skirt kits.
I really thought the Camaro would have more support from the aftermarket by now, but I guess not.
Best thing to do would be able to drive both cars, test drive or find friends who have them, do a comparison and see which one you like best and which one wows you first.
You just know when the car is right for you
both are great cars

Ok fellow forumers... don't kill me for saying this- but if your honestly on the fence, I think your better off with the (gulp) Mustang. Im a Chevy guy... so regardless of the facts, I will always go Camaro for myself. But, I did have a couple Mustangs over the last few years at work (both V6, 1 a vert) and they were really great. Very well styled, comfortable, great handling, speed, just all around good cars. I wouldn't buy it.just for my Chevy alliance, but, if your on the fence, for the cost... id go... (can't get myself to say it, but you get the.picture....)

IMO, depends on exactly what you want.

I love Mustangs...had many (6), but personally I wouldn't get another Mustang that's not a V8. Not because I'm a V8 snob like so many others around here (I got the V6 Camaro because I wanted it, not because I couldn't have the SS), but I never enjoyed my V6 Mustangs much, outside of the fact that they were gorgeous.

This current generation, I prefer the styling of the Camaro. Still love the styling of the Mustang, but very much prefer the Camaro.

In terms of current performance, and current aftermarket performance support, I'd go with the Mustang. I believe the Camaro v6 has gobs more potential, mind you, but its obvious the support needed to get there isn't gonna happen soon in any kind of large production scale. So kind of a now or later, really.

In terms of head turning power, the Camaro will always win..Camaro's have been selling better than Mustang's since their return, BUT Mustangs have been constantly on sale for 45+ years...so there's a LOT of them on the road, not so many Camaros (novelty\apparent rarity does much for the whiplash effect!)

So if you want sexiness and baller tech, go Camaro. If you want performance and quick, easy aftermarket support, go Mustang.

IMO, either way, you can't lose...both are awesome cars!

i have a 2006 mustang and im trying to sell it to get the 2011 camaro ls... i hope this helps you decide.
the mustang is nice, but i cant stand the redesigned rear-end of it.
they did a good job on the front/side of it though.
power wise, they are both basically the same...

If you can't afford an SS and you are looking for performance, go with the Mustang. It is hands down a better performer for several reasons, some of which you have already named. I think both cars look good, but the Camaro has the edge and that was enough for me to make my decision over a stang. You have to be the one to weigh all the options.

I don't look good in no Armani Suits
No Gucci shoes - or designer boots
I've tried the latest lines from A to Z
But there's just one thing that looks good on me

The only thing I want
The only thing I need
The only thing I choose
The only thing that looks good on me...

is you (CAMARO)

Its a v6, go for the one you think looks better. If you want performance and mods get the v8. You don't buy a v6 because you want to make it fast, thats not what its all about. It kind of defeats the purpose of the v6. Mods for the Camaro v6 will be out soon enough the platform hasn't been around as long as the mustang and is why there aren't mods for it yet but give it time and the industry will catch up.
