Olds. Call me if needed....I'll get DT to get another one out to you.

This is the first time EVER that any DT LT has ever even remotely came close to the steering shaft.

These are 1 3/4" Tri Y's so they are tucked tightly up in there..........maybe denting up some other brand to make em fit, but never on a set of DTs.

You should have a good 3/4 to an 1" between the shaft and anything remotely close to a header touching it.

Email me some pics if you would and I'll make sure you get taken care of Sir.

to what Ivan said... dent it??

Stainless Works had this issue and replaced any that rubbed and QUICKLY redesigned their LTs. Thankfull mine didnt rub but my buddies did. Super quick fix. Don't dent them!!! Get a proper fit header!

I want to be clear that Ivan has offered full help on this issue. Here are pics and you can see where the metal is rubbing on the steering column.

My DT headers that I bought for Ivan are also hitting my steering shaft. I bought them back in 2011 and due to some health and life events I just got them installed. Any resolution on this?

Most with this issue just dimple the header just enough to clear shaft. Only thing you can do.

Motor mounts are in good shape. Car has only 15,000 non abused miles on it. I contacted Doug Thorley and they basically told me to bad. We redesigned the headers due to fitment issues and they would sell me a replacement set at as they said a deep discount, $520. I thought I bought a quality product with a lifetime warranty against defective materials and workmanship. I think this would fall under workmanship as they do not fit the intended application without hitting on the steering shaft. I do not want to buy a second set form a company that will not stand behind the product they make. I have had to dimple several sets of cheaper headers in my life with some engine swap applications. I never thought I would have to do that to an expensive set of ceramic coated headers and risk the coating coming off.

Been down this road 100+ times because of junk made headers. Not by my installations. C5, C6, C7 Corvette and GEN5 Camaro cheap headers may contact the steering shaft. I will only install Kooks and American Racing. Never had 1 issue ever in any year or mentioned model.

I'm going to assume you mean "ebay headers"? Cause I didn't spend even HALF what Kooks or American Racing headers cost on mine and they fit my car fantastic.

I put cheap headers on my car and they rubbed the steering shaft a little.. Not the knuckle.. But could hear what ounded like valve train tic or exhaust leak from behind the steering wheel while driving. Open the hood or roll down the window and you could not hear it.. Took header back off and dented it. works great now. And my dyno guy said it was causing a false knock on the left bank and pulling timing.. All good now.
