I have the same system and with the Dynatech lt's it sounds perfect.

This is funny because I went the other way. I loved the Flowmasters, I even delt with the drone sound on the freeway. On the dyno, it's another story the Flowmasters held me back with my Whipple build and now I went with Magnaflows. The Flowmasters were getting so hot the paint was burning off. The Magnaflows are quiet at idle and part throttle and no freeway drone. You have to be the throttle to hear them. The best part about them was I "could" put my arm through them. Straight through design.

I hate to tell you but mufflers do nothing for performance. All it does is attract attention. I'm at over 650+ rwhp. I currently have 4 mufflers and a set of helmholtz pipes installed. I also have 4.11 gears installed. I can't quiet this thing enough. In Virginia, we have a show of speed ticket, which is not good. They are anal about exhaust noise. I just wish this thing didn't attract so much attention from law enforcement. Do yourself a favor, if you intend to drive this thing hard, get the quietest exhaust possible. If all you care about is showing off, well then.... |

I'd hate to tell you they do make a difference. I'm at 619RWHP and my car is quiet when I want it to be.

To each his own. If anyone wants loud, the Flowmasters will do that. I only swapped because of 50RWTQ. Otherwise I'd still have the Flowmasters on.

Didn't do a tune. I called Magnaflow and asked them if I needed one and they said no. I definitely noticed a low end loss though when I had them installed. My understanding is that you need some backpressure for low end acceleration and the Magnaflows are very free flowing. This isn't a bad thing, but IMHO this is what makes a tune with Magnaflow 3" just about mandatory.

I had the GMPP axle backs on my SS and liked the sound. Switched to the Magnaflow 16483 3" cat-back and noticed it was much quieter. But that's OK because I knew I was going to add LT's pretty soon. I now have the LT's and hi-flow cats and the Magnaflow sound is PERFECT! Quiet when i want it to be, but lay into it and she now really barks! I've moved beyond needing more noise (when you hit your 60's you can't hear most of it anyway) and my current setup is just what I want.

I have Flowmaster American Thunder cat-back with Thorley shorties and I don't "feel" like I lost any HP or TQ, quite the opposite. But I did the CAI intake, headers, and exhaust all at once. Now imma wondering if in fact Id get more HP/TQ with different exhaust - but the AM Thunder do sound awesome. Drone between 65-75 on the freeway however. If I changed, wouldn't know what to get.

magnaflow 2.5 rocks. my goal is around 500hp...we basically left the stock pipes, put a magnaflow x in and extra pipe to fill the gap where the resonator was. Then, did magnaflow stainless mufflers and their resonated tips. Turned out great. Car runs the same...it did get out some of the hesistation at the start of second gear...but the car is on a stock ecm tune at this point as well. could be a learning thing fixing itself. I wanted some lowend throat but nothing 'rowdy'.
