Magnaflow removed, Flowmaster installed..

Hello Folks,

I've never been happy with the sound of my Magnaflow cat back exhaust (part # 16483) so yesterday I had the Flowmaster AMT cat back installed (part # 817481).

Let me just say that I absolutely LOVE how this thing sounds. This is absolutely the sound I have been looking for. Also, I swear this thing grabs better throughout the tachometer range. I can only imagine what this beast will sound like when I get my CAI from CA Inductions (ordered a week ago, are these things on backorder?).

Cheers,

Heelhook

it will sound awesome. If you have headers, it will probably make you wet yourself.

That's funny I put the Magnaflow #16483 on my 2010 LS3 and it is way to quite with stock manifolds and cats. I to should of went with American Thunder or Borla ATAK. Kinda a waste of $1000 for just a bit louder then stock. Oh well longtubes someday.

i have magnaflow 3'' without headers , i like the flowmaster sound and the price also pest than any exhaust u can find in market

i'm thinking now between 2 things
1- buy new kooks headers
2- remove my magnaflow and install new flowmaster catback

i don't want noisy sound like JBA exhaust

Do a search for "SUPRBAD" on youtube and you will find a video of My car wide open throttle on the dyno with KOOKS LT and My Magnaflow #16483. I'm pretty sure that's what Baby T-REX's sound like when they make love...AWESOME!!!

Long tubes with the Flowmaster catback is gonna be LOUD (not that there's anything wrong with that!). If I were you I would start with the Flowmasters and see if that's a good/loud enough sound for you. Then if you still want more, nothin' wrong with a nice set of Kooks!

I should point out that if you are on the fence between Flowmaster and Magnaflow that the dyno chart has never been available for the Magnaflow. Even now if you click on the 16483 part no. on the Magnaflow website it oddly shows the dyno for the 2.5" series not the 3' series.

I'm not saying you won't get gains with the 16483 without a tune, but as it stands without a tune the Flowmaster no. 817481 is better.

Cheers,

Heelhook

magnaflow makes straight-through flowing mufflers flowmasters as far as i believe are chambered mufflers. i can't speak for flowmaster for the 5th gens (not highly regarded in the 4th gen crowd) but magnaflow is a great flowing system

SSOOCH strikes again! Always make me laugh man!

I heard a set up like yours in Oshawa and it was sweet. My buddy also has the Flowmaster AMT with LT's and it sounds AWESOME!

I have the Flowmaster american thunder on my LLT, and it sounds GOOD! However, im doin' a swap to CORSA catback, cus the Flow has high DRONE level inside the car plus, its loud...where i live the feds constantly giving penalty fines for loud exhaust, thats why im going for a quieter, excellent system which is the CORSA, plus it has niCer muffler tips ;p
