I think Mr. Morris has kinda given up on this topic...after 28 pages of posts on "Does your top have wear marks?" thread, he doesnt seem to be around that thread anymore.

first problem....the "upholstery" guy had no business coming up with his own repair process. He should have done it the way GM wants it done. Now you have to have another top ordered to replace this one and have it done correctly...2nd problem...the "upholstery" guy just screwed with the warranty by doing it his way and GM may not replace it under warranty now, the "upholstery" guy just might have to buy it out of his pocket or possibly the dealer if the guy is contracted with them to do the work. Either way, it is jacked and needs to go back to be replaced the right way. I would PM Jeff and let him know but you also need to take it to the dealer so they can see what was done so they can dump that guy from any additional business.

Good luck with the repairs, I'm sorry to see you having to go thru this.

I'd track the number of times and days out of service for future lemon law action, if desired and if conditions are met.

Sorry SSAINT, the only reason I'm not on that thread more is because we're still working on an update to the original documentation that took care of the issue. Currently I don't have any updates to the document that I could give to you guys. I've been checking it 3-4 times a week every week and I haven't seen much change or anything new come out for it. Hopefully soon our technical team can come up with a fix for those 2011 convertibles still having this issue.

Jeff Morris, Chevrolet Customer Service

EDIT: Just checked my sources again and I did find some updated documents that should have you guys covered for these issues. I would suggest you check up with your dealers to see if they've got the most recent documentation on this issue. If you have any trouble let me know. I can give them a call and see if we can't all get on the same page.

Jeff, I was only bustin your chops. I know you do the best you can with what you have to work with. You have been very attentive to everyone's concerns. I, for one, appreciate you being here and I wouldnt hesitate to call on you if I had a problem. My wear marks on my early production (February) convertible SEEMS to have been taken care of by just trimming the the offending piece by my local dealer. Hope GM figures it out soon, seems kinda stupid to be replacing people's tops 2 and 3 times.

The latest SB the dealer had as of Aug 22, was one dated 8-16.
Is that the latest documentation you were referring to or is there yet another one since then.?

No worries SSAINT. I'm no stranger to getting my chops busted. I don't take it as a slight to me personally it's more of a call to action. If I need to be responding to something all you guys have to do is say so and I'll be there! HDRDTD, I see the document from the 16th which is the latest one for the top specifically. Hopefully this revised document gets all of you guys covered for this and you can all have good looking and silent running Camaro Convertibles very very soon!

Jeff, have any issues with the 2012 convertibles been reported yet? Are these memo's specific to 2011 or both models so far?

Wow...that is a truly HORRIBLE replacement job. Rivets would have worked, IMO, if there would have been a washer used in between the rivet and metal which would have prevented the strap from tearing off of the rivet. I mean, c'mon....right? Rivets work great for metal on metal. But when you have a 16th of an inch holding down nylon which STRETCHES....and can TEAR from behind it....... Jeez...someone wasn't using their think tank that morning...

Can't believe how crappy of an install job that was.

Totally unacceptable. Take it back and get it done right...maybe even from a different dealership.
