I have long tune headers, no cats, with the borla s type! And it's perfect. Not loud inside of car, but definitely a head turner on the outside... Then when I want to be really obnoxious I open up the QTP cut-outs!!!!!!
IMO S-Type is the way to go!!!

I picked up a set of ARH 1 7/8 headers with cats. My goal is similar...something noticeable, yet not mentally exhausting or obnoxious. Listened to quite a few options & decided on the S-type for the deeper sound. My personal opinion is the ATAK is best suited for a setup with aftermarket cats only (like Solo). With headers, the ATAK just sounds too much like a diesel truck to me. That being said, the last couple days I've been drooling over the sound of Corsa paired with the headers (even they have a similar sound to the ATAK). Magnaflow also seems to be a great choice if you go with the competition series (the one with mufflers, tru-X pipe, & 4" tips...16483, I believe). My preference has been a catback. Maybe it's a mental thing but an axleback just sounds like a halfass job since part of the OEM setup is still present. Either way, the great thing about it is that opinions & tastes vary. My suggestion is to keep an eye out here & go used. If you get something & it doesn't turn out to be the sound you're looking for, there's plenty of people on here willing to scoop it up if the price is right.

Really like how atak sounds with stock exhaust manifolds and cats. With long tubes not so much, I went with s-type to hook up to my kooks long tubes.
